Midknight Review's impression of the Glenn Beck interview with Sarah Palin: She was great: Glenn? Not so much

Admittedly, this post is not news. In fact, most "news" is not news but opinion. This is opinion.

Understand that this editor is a fan of Glenn Beck's BUT we were disappointed with his interview of Sarah Palin. The Governor is much more upbeat than Glenn and refused to get sucked into some of his more negative commentary. We thought the show was as much about Beck as it was about Palin and that was a disappointment, as well.

This editor is not one who sees Palin as an intellectual incompetent. In fact, this editor is somewhat of a jihadist when it comes to Palin's defense in this regard. You will never see a "maybe so" as relates to doubts about the Governor's transcendent abilities in this publication. Glenn allowed for the criticism of both himself and Palin in this regard. While that might work for Beck, it will not work as a national audience considers her influence.

It is clear that she does not desire "brotherhood" with those who are victims of the Marxist Media. Palin refuses to be a victim. Her smile is genuine, even when discussing the angry insults of the moronic Leftist punditry.

This editor is confident that a run for the Presidency is not in her plans, at this time. If she is enlisted by public opinion, we do believe she will run, but that seems to be the prevailing or controlling influence in Palin's decision to run or recuse herself. And, after all, that would be the only circumstance in which we can see Palin winning an election -- an appointment to run made by an endearing and supportive public sector.

Her "candidacy" will be fiercely opposed by the Marxist Kool-aid drinkers on the Left, should it happened, but we must not forget that the "good old old boys" on the Right do not want Palin in their future, either. And folks like the well intentioned Glenn Beck want her to be more a victim than she cares to be. Lots of political landmines to avoid. She did another great job of not being taken off course or involved in controversies that are a distraction.

Her time on FoxNews will give her the ability and time and council to get her thoughts worked out and rhetorical statements fixed in her mind. She is among friends at FoxNews - something that was not the case in the McCain camp. She refuses to dishonor McCain and did not join Beck in his criticisms of the Arizona Senator. That is good. Leave the criticisms to Beck and political writers such as this editor and the network of conservative authors and pundits that abound on the American scene.

It is critical that Palin stay on message - she is Miss Middle Non-Partisan America, one who recognizes that the GOP is the political vehicle she needs to accomplish her agenda (which she hopes is shared by millions, nation wide). She did nothing to insult those on the Right who might be willing to consider her political contribution while standing firm against the Left'

The difference between Liberals and Conservatives centers itself in the notion and place of Government. The Left believes Government is our only societal savior; Conservatives see the Government as the most pronounced interrupter of individual success, entrepreneur job creation and research, and the sharing of wealth is necessary in a world of need. Before the advent of Obama, the United States of America was the single largest donor to the needs of the unfortunate of this world. Our scientific research is renowned. Our medical advances unquestioned. Aid to poor nations monumental. Palin knows the truth and sees the perversion that Obama's political agenda.

She is not the only one to whom conservative can turn, and she knows this. She wants to be a team player.

At any rate, we thoroughly enjoyed her interview on Beck. Her commitment to a positive expression of conservative American politic is refreshing. Her instincts are noteworthy and her sense of peace seems to be genuine.

Finally, we did think it interesting to note Beck's mention of his invitation to speak at CPAC - an invitation offered to Palin but rejected by the Governor. Like we have said, she survived the interview with her agenda in tact and without adding to the negatives pressed by her detractors.
