A massive lake of molten carbon the size of Mexico is discovered under the US, and it could cause climate CHAOS

• Situated under western US, 217 miles (350km) beneath the Earth's surface
• Scientists used world's largest array of seismic sensors to map area 
• Melting carbon covers an area of 700,000 sq miles (1.8 million sq km)
• Upper mantle could contain up to 100 trillion metric tonnes of melted carbon

A second study found here,  gives us a picture of the same molten field that is roughly similar to the one reported in the Daily Mail.

As you read through this material,  know that the authorities do not seem to believe this molten field of lava/carbon posses an immediate problem.  In a third article , here,  we have this [somewhat] reassuring statement:  "“We need 10 to 20 years of research before we can get a feel for normal behavior  . . . . . .  Then we can predict what’s happening based on abnormal behavior.”  I see hope in this last quote,  not a reason to panic.
