End of an era, with Obama finding other things to do, like meeting with people who roll around in tubs of milk and serial (make that "cereal." But she is, obviously, a serial eater." )

On Tuesday,  there will be a gathering in Poland,  commemorating the deliverance of of the death camp,  Auschwitz,  by Russian,  at the end of WW II.  Putin was not invited (no head of State was given an invitation),  but was free to attend of his own choosing.  He attended the 60th gathering,  but not this,  the 70th and last official gathering  . . .   a clear indication of the poor relations between Russia and Poland because of Putin's attack in the Ukraine.  Obama will not attend,  sending Treasury Secretary,  Jack Lew,  instead.  His decision would seem appropriate,  enough,  if it were not for the fact that Obama is our first anti-Semitic president.

“We find this to be a moment of passage,” one of the organizers has said. “A passing of the baton. It is younger generations publicly accepting the responsibility that they are ready to carry this history on behalf of the survivors, and to secure the physical survival of the place where they suffered.”

1500 attended the gathering 10 years ago.  It is estimated that only 300 will attend this,  the 70th such gathering.  Nearly all in attendance,  other than the dignitaries,  are in their 90's,  with some more than 100 years of age.

  1. We all know that if Obama and the Democratic Party of today, had been in power, the US would have never gotten in the European War. Our fight with the Japs was a very different war than with Hitler. In fact, I am not aware that Japan and Germany ever collaborated with each other.
