The Right Stuff In The Morning
Wednesday, January 7, 2014
Good morning! Did everyone like their issue of "Reline" yesterday? Sorry for the typo.
In the News today: Twelve people are dead in Paris after an Islamist attack on a French publication that lampooned the Prophet Muhammed; the White House plays the race card; Boehner wins over a disorganized opposition, but the fight continues; and the latest Bible of the Left has some factual challenges.
Have a great day.

Twelve dead in Paris terrorist attack . . . Heavily armed gunmen shouting Islamist slogans stormed a Paris satirical newspaper office Wednesday and shot dead at least 12 people in the deadliest attack in France in four decades. Police launched a massive manhunt for the masked attackers who reportedly hijacked a car and sped off, running over a pedestrian and shooting at officers.
Police said witnesses heard the attackers, who were armed with a Kalashnikov and rocket launcher, shout "we have avenged the prophet" and "Allahu akbar" (God is greatest). Two police were confirmed among the dead and four people were critically injured. The capital was placed under the highest alert status after the attack on Charlie Hebdo, a satirical weekly that has sparked anger in the past among Muslims for publishing cartoons of the prophet Mohamed. I'm sure Europe will respond with more "protections" for "religious sensitivities." That is, limits on free speech. God willing, we won't go that route here.

White House plays the race card, of course . . . Knowing full well Republicans plan to keep Rep. It only follows that Republican leaders must be racist. White House Dossier

He'll also visit Arizona and Tennessee. The Hill
Obama will be a mile away from scandal-ridden Phoenix VA, but won't stop by. “If President Obama wanted to get the ground truth — and send a signal of strong leadership — he would take the time to visit the Phoenix VA hospital during his forthcoming trip to that neighborhood. Unfortunately, President Obama has yet to show leadership in the fight to reform and fix the VA," says Pete Hegseth, CEO of Concerned Veterans for America.
Obama would veto Keystone bill . . . Boehner wins, but fight continues . . . House Republican detractors looking to topple Speaker John Boehner fell short on Tuesday, showing that leadership, emboldened by a massive majority in the House and compatriots leading the Senate, may have an easier time operating amid fickle and disorganized opposition. But that power comes with clear limits. National Journal
Boehner takes revenge . . . After he secured his third term as speaker Tuesday afternoon, losing 25 votes on the House floor to some relatively unknown members of the Republican Conference, Boehner moved swiftly to boot two of the insurgents from the influential Rules Committee. That could be just the start of payback. Politico
Some Jews leaving the Democrats . . . The exodus of Jewish Americans from the Democratic Party continued in 2014, with only 61 percent of Jews identifying with the party last year, according to a new poll released Tuesday by Gallup. Sixty-one percent may seem high, compared to 31 percent of the general public who identify as Democrats, but that’s a 3 percent dip from 2013, and a huge drop from 2008, when 71 percent of Jews said they were Democrats.
