Update: FoxNews reported (June 16,2014) that the total slaughtered in this incident was 1700. Thanks Obama for absolutely nothing. Claiming the Bush victory as his own (Biden to Larry King in February of 2010) kind of blew up in the Wordmeister's Face and deservedly so. Source for these and other pictures, is Gateway Pundit. The ISLS, resurrected from the dead after Obama took office, are threatening to march into Baghdad with the purpose of taking Iraq for themselves, since Obama and Biden thought it a good idea to cut and run, after they took office. Now, those with commonsense, can see why we needed to secure a Status of Forces agreement, in 2009. If we had remained in Iraq, as we did with all other nations we have defeated (we are still in Germany and we did not leave Japan for 12 years) NONE of this would be happening. Sunday's slaughter and the beheadings of some two hundred others, over the course of the past three months, has struck fear in the hearts and souls, of the Iraqi opposition. Those troops are simply leaving the battlefield, rather than face a certain and tortuous death.
Update: Understand that ISIS differs from the other "organizations" of murdering Jihadists in that ISIS is an marauding, Sunni army with thousands of fighters (two to four thousand by most estimates) and the others are not. It fights as a unit; is growing [almost] exponentially, drawing from the Sunni populations within Syria and Iraq, adding wealth upon wealth as it raids the banks located in the cities they conquer, and showing no mercy or civility towards those enemy forces they capture. It intends to attack the US and destroy Israel, after establishing a nation-home in Iraq.
To argue that we have no "dog in this fight," is to stupidly forget that 9/11 was a planned offensive move, fully planned and staffed, during the last two years of the Clinton Administration, in the terror filled, nation-state of Afghanistan. The oceans off our west/east coasts have not been a barrier to the enemy for decades. A Middle East, controlled by a army/state of terrorists, hell bent on world domination and the deaths of all Jews, Christians, and non-Sunni nations, is a most serious threat. When the Left asks, "So what are you doing to do, tough guy, start another war?" my eyes cross at the ignorance of the Left, knowing that the war on terror is not over simply because our leadership refuses to stand it's ground and fight back. Guaranteed, if Israel or (especially) this country, is attacked, war will no longer be an option.
Baghdad is less than 100 miles to the south.
Thanks, Obama, for absolutely nothing.
Obama thought it a good idea to cut and run?
ReplyDeleteIs that why BUSH signed the Status of Forces Agreement in 2008 - a pact that pledged the removal of US troops by 2012? haha, yea ... all Obama's fault.
Colin Powell saw this coming. "you break it, you own it." GHW Bush would never have done this ill advised invasion in 2003. Older wiser, the idiot son put us in this situation.
There was no Status of Forces Agreement (after 2011). Obama refused to honor the agreement for 23,000 remaining soldiers after US withdrawl. Only the timetable for troop withdrawal, remained. A new Status Agreement needed to be negotiated, something Obama did not want and Biden failed to finalize.

Let's apply Powell's statement with Biden/Obama announcements that the end game of the Iraqi conflict was one the greatest accomplishments of the Obama Adminstration. If that is the case, if Iraq had as good ending as these two morons claimed, then the turn-around is all on Obama. He claimed the peace and victory, but, now, wants everyone to think that its Bush's fault. Geeeeesh.
Iraq refused the terms of a SOFA with the U.S. despite Obama's efforts to maintain a military presence there.
ReplyDeleteObama Pushed For Status of Forces Agreement, Iraqi Government Refused - look at the headlines from 2011:
Time: "Iraq's Government, Not Obama, Called Time On U.S. Troop Presence."
AP: "SOFA Negotiations Thwarted By Iraqi Government"
The New York Times: "Iraqis Were Unwilling To Accept Terms Of SOFA"
Headlines in the "compliant, peace at any price, media?" Obama's military advisers wanted a status of forces agreement that included 23,000 remaining soldiers and years of continued supervision.. Obama, with all his military background and innovative collectivist crap policies, said "no" and went with a remaining force of 8,000 that would stay for only two years. Iraq saw no long term value in such nonsense and "my way or the highway, Mr. Detached, Obama" ended those talks and took all American forces out of the country, just like he is going to do in Afghanistan. THAT was not reported, but remains the facts of the situation. Besides, we all know that he did not want to be in Iraq at all -- so, of course, his terms for the agreement were impossible, offering no long term value to the successful Bush end game. Plausible deniability. Word games are what Obama is all about. "We are not evacuating the Iraqi embassy; rather, we are only relocating its personnel." He offered a SOFA but in terms even his military generals advised against; Iraq refused so it is all their fault.
DeleteFinally and least you forget, SOFA or not, Biden told the nation that Iraq was one of Obama's greatest accomplishments, implying a victory in Iraq. Bush left an united Iraq with Kurds, Sunni and Shiites all sharing in the governance of that country, but Obama took all of the credit. And because he cares nothing for serious diplomacy, walked away, claiming the victory, and we have what we have, because of his criminal malfeasance. The good news in all this word game crap, is the American people have finally caught on to his bullshit.
