The chill
in relations between the US and Russia grew still frostier yesterday as
President Vladimir Putin's foreign minister told the White House to start
behaving like "grown-ups". Mr
Obama reacted furiously this week to Russia 's approval of temporary
asylum for Mr Snowden, a National Security Agency contractor who gave secret
documents to the media.
Accusing
Moscow of a "slip back into Cold War thinking", the president pulled
out of a planned bilateral meeting with Mr Putin in Moscow before the G20
summit in St Petersburg next month.
Notes: Obama is just frustrated, waking up one morning only to discover that diplomatic
relations simply do not “take care of themselves.” And sending a toy button to
the Russian as an indication of the seriousness of America’s “reset”
intention, is another reason the Russian
might be thinking that we need to start acting like grown-up. The pictures shows the toy button with Russian wording. Originally, the Russian word for "reset" was misspelled by Obama's crack State Department team. The translation of our version of Russian was "charge or over-charge."
This is what we have for a diplomatic team, ladies and gentlemen. Talk about something being "phony," you are looking at it.
