What a difference a day makes. Obama's world of media control has apparently blown up in his face. So bad was yesterday's media events, that Fox’s Neil Cavuto
called it " . . . . the beginning of the mother
of all PR battles for the White House."
From the BBC: There’s new
evidence, obtained by ABC, that the Obama administration did deliberately
purge references to “terrorism” from accounts of the attack on the Benghazi diplomatic
mission, which killed four people including the US ambassador to Libya. Conservatives have long maintained that the
administration deliberately
suppressed the truth about the attacks.
This is the
first hard evidence that the state department did ask for changes to the CIA’s
original assessment.
Note:
of course it is not the “first hard evidence.” Steven Hayes of the Weekly Standard, uncovered the initial talking points
alternations earlier this week. Fox News
developed a fact based timeline that destroyed Obama’s contrary claims months
ago. It is only “new” to the liberal
media, but, at least,
they have finally come alive on this issue.
Specifically,
they wanted references to previous warnings deleted and this sentence removed:
“We do know that Islamic extremists with ties to al-Qa’ida participated in the
attack.” . . . . . . State department spokesperson Victoria Nuland
is directly implicated, and the fingerprints of senior White House aides Ben
Rhodes and Jay Carney are there as well.
Editor's notes: Proof that
the major media has finally come alive on the Benghazi issue, is found in the Friday press conference, an hour long ordeal that was contentious and full
of difficult-to-answer questions for Jay Carney.
Also, CNN’s Erin Burnett lead her afternoon broadcast (4 pm pacific time) with
a 12 minute review of the press conference and the shameful attempt to keep
secret, the violent complicity of the
Libyan Jihadist community in the deaths of our four diplomats.
As is usually the case in such matters, it is not the “crime” that gets politicians
in trouble, but their feckless ability
to cover-up. That is what defeated
Nixon. Perhaps Obama will face the same
fate. We can only hope for the
best, on this one.
