As you can see, if you can trust PEW,
73% of Americans believe immigrants currently considered
"illegal," should have some sort of legal status. It is
time, but playing politics with this issue, will not get the job
done.
While folks believe this problem should be given a
solution, now, even more (83%) believe that more should be done to
strengthen security at our Southern border. The Senate is currently
debating this legislation and is in the process of voting for some 300 different
amendments. What may kill the bill before it gets out of the Senate,
is a proposal that allows in-country gays to "sponsor" lovers
they might have in foreign countries. Such would turn this bill into a
"gay rights" proposition, rather than an immigration bill.
Understand that anyone can sponsor anyone, in this bill, if they
meet certain requirements, of course. Naming "gay" as a
defining issue is completely unnecessary and constitutes nothing more than
another "in your face" moment coming from the militant gay community.
Again, I say, such a proposition is completely unnecessary.
No one qualifying for legal status, per this immigration bill, would be so considered because they are either gay or straight
(normal). More than this, understand that to specify "gay" in
this bill, would give special status to members of that community,
and impede enforcement. Without this wording, a gay
applicant would be judged based on the same rules as anyone else and could not
be excluded because of sexual preference.
