Senate to vote on tame federal gun law, today, April 17.

There was to have been a Senate vote on gun reform on Tuesday.  The vote was postponed until Wednesday,  but,  even that is in doubt.  Several amendments are scheduled to be placed into the debate,  this morning  (Wednesday  the 17th).  If this happens,  each amendment is to receive four days of consideration,  according to Senate rules.  Will Harry Reid choose to ignore the rules,  as he has countless times in the past ?  Time will tell.

Gun owners will be glad to hear that the bill most likely to pass Senate consideration will be no more intrusive than California’s current gun law.  I live in the state and can tell you with confidence,  that such a federal law would be fairly tame.  It does not appear there will be a weapons ban, not even a limit on the size of magazines.  We will know much more by the end of this day.  Universal background checks  ?  Probably  but that is a good thing, in view of the fact that only two states require background checks for both rifles and hand guns.
