C/Net News is reporting:
A Senate proposal touted as
protecting Americans' e-mail privacy has been quietly rewritten, giving
government agencies more surveillance power than they possess under current
law.
CNET has learned that Patrick Leahy, the influential
Democratic chairman of the Senate Judiciary committee, has dramatically
reshaped his legislation in response to law enforcement concerns. A vote on his
bill, which now authorizes warrantless access to
Americans' e-mail, is scheduled for
next week.
Point of post: just to remind the reader of the gross hypocrisy of those on the Left. First, they accused Bush 43 of war crimes for his waterboarding policy. By the time Obama started bragging about his ban on this practice, we were three years removed from the last time that process was used. In its place, Obama and the Left instituted a "death by drone" strategy that has killed 41 Taliban leaders while murdering 4,000 innocent Pakistani children and women.
And now, this bit of news. Over and over again, we listened to the whiners on the Left complain about the Patriot Act. Today, we find out, that the Left is making a move to violate our rights to privacy even more than the Patriot Act ever did. Heck, I have lost track as to the number of times our resident Marxists have talked about changing the First Amendment as regards to our freedom of speech. When they get through with their strategy on this matter, it will be the Left that tells us what speech is worthy of Constitutional, First Amendment protections.
If you are a Democrat and refuse to stand up against this kind of crap, you are as guilty of subversive activity as are those who are destroying this great nation.
