From my mail box: ten reasons by Libs detest Mitt Romney.

 Why Mitt Romney is Unlikable

A lot is being said in the media about Mitt Romney not being "likable" or that he doesn't "relate well" to people. Frankly, we struggled to understand why. So after much research, we have come up with a Top Ten List to explain this "unlikablility."

Top Ten Reasons To Dislike Mitt Romney:

1. Drop-dead, collar-ad handsome with gracious, statesmanlike aura. Looks like every central casting's #1 choice for Commander-in-Chief.

2. Been married to ONE woman his entire life, and has been faithful to her, including through her bouts with breast cancer and MS.

3. No scandals or skeletons in his closet. (How boring is that?)

4. Can't speak in a fake, southern, "black preacher voice" when necessary.

5. Highly intelligent. Graduated cum laude from both Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School...and by the way, his academic records are NOT sealed.

6. Doesn't smoke or drink alcohol, and has never done drugs, not even in the counter-culture age when he went to college. Too square for today's America?

7. Represents an America of "yesterday", where people believed in God, went to Church, didn't screw around, worked hard, and became a SUCCESS!
8. Has a family of five great sons....and none of them have police records or are in drug rehab. But of course, they were raised by a stay-at-home mom, and that "choice" deserves America's scorn.

9. Oh yes.....he's a MORMON. We need to be very afraid of that very strange religion that teaches its members to be clean-living, patriotic, fiscally conservative, charitable, self-reliant, and honest.

10. And one more point.....pundits say because of his wealth, he can't relate to ordinary Americans. I guess that's because he made that money HIMSELF.....as opposed to marrying it or inheriting it from Dad. Apparently, he didn't understand that actually working at a job and earning your own money made you unrelatable to Americans.

  1. I like how you describe him as a self made man who earned his own money. Are you talking about the son of a Governor and Presidential candidate? The guy who went to the best private schools a politician could send their kid to since he was 12 years old. Romney has an impressive business resume but don't make it sound like he wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth. The guy was raised with a privilege maybe 1% of the US population can afford. He may have earned his own money but he was groomed since he was a child to be where he is now.

I'll bet he's never had to look for a job. THAT is something that 99% of Americans cannot relate to.

  2. Well, he gave away all his inheritance, married Ann and moved into a one bedroom apartment. I don't believe he was or is any more conversant than either you or your buddy, the very privileged B Obama.

Romney started with nothing, financially, and is what he is, today, because he took control of the very opportunities we all have. I am part of the 99% and I think his success story can belong to anyone. This country is full of opportunity for all. And free market capitalism remains the single best system for upward, middle class mobility this world has ever seen. Your side of the aisle knows this is true, but will not admit it.

Look, the blond ditz, Lizzy Warren, compares China's aggressive infrastructure "investment" with ours. Beside the fact that her side of the political theater had full control of the purse strings for two full years and could have made the kind of “investments” she now demands, the average annual income in China, for a family of three (four member families are illegal), is a little over $10,000. Heck, our poverty level is $12,000 per married couple and $22,000 for a family of four and the folks in China have no prayer to get out of their class situation. Of course the Red Chinese can afford infrastructure expense when it pays its labor force a couple of bucks an hour. Of course the Red Chinese are looking to its infrastructure, since it does not have any to repair. There are, still, has more than a million folks actually living in caves in China and its industrial revolution is just now kicking itself into high gear.

But keep believing this country sucks. I don't care. But don't expect anyone here to believe you.

  3. If you think we had the same opportunities as Romney you are incredibly naive. I love it when people with elite opportunities patronize the rest of us by saying they gave it all away and started with nothing. They started with hope and limitless opportunities. They started with keys to doors that most of us don't even know exist. I'm not saying that Mitt's accomplishments aren't impressive but I am saying that his type of privilege is unique and to say that he made his way all on his own is insulting to the rest of us.

This country is full of opportunity for everyone but the politicians want to take those opportunities away. Both parties are only interested in protecting their property and their privileges. The Republicans are fighting for the corporations and the churches and the Democrats are fighting for the Unions. The rest of us are stuck on the outside looking in and hoping to get a piece.

This country doesn't suck but the people who keep voting for the 2 clowns the Republicans and Democrats put up every 4 years do.

  4. Look, no one is saying that he made it "all on his own." but to argue that society (i.e. government) can "make it all better" is nuts. LIFE isn't fair. The fact that 99% of humanity is born somewhere other than the United States isn't fair and YOU’RE AN AMERICAN. The fact that my wife and I both retired just before the bottom fell out of everything, isn't fair. We are living out a great life while some of our younger friends are about to lose their homes because of the jobs market, poor decision, and circumstance. The fact that our next door neighbor, a hard working Mex, is upside down on his home by $100,000, isn't fair. The fact that "I.Q." sets us apart, is not fair. "Beauty" is not fair. And I bet that you have a life that is patently unfair, when compared to others. For one thing, you are not stupid. When you say, "The rest of us are stuck on the outside, looking in and hoping to get a piece," how is that the mark of commonality? Certainly, it is a very broad indictment, certainly most are not "rich" by comparison to the Romney's and Obama's of the world. But to stand with a crowd of younger Americans complaining about something that is existentially unchangeable (i.e. that "life isn't fair"), seems to me to be the grandest absurdity of all. More than that, to think that your position in life, you, Paul the Younger, sucks because you are not a Mitt Romney, is naïve and actually, not true, when you stop to think about it. For every advantage a Mitt Romney had, growing up, I’ll bet you could list just as many. Anyway, I am sure I am running out of room in “comments.” I intend to deal with the “fairness” issue in coming weeks. Maybe I will say something that makes sense to you, who knows.

  5. You got me all wrong. I'm not complaining about my personal situation. I'm pretty happy where I am at. Of course I things could be better but I take full responsibility for my life. I'm also not complaining about "fairness". The point of my comments were that people don't like Romney because he's been pandering to the tea party and alienating everyone else. The only people he stands for are white men with money. The only thing he is interested in protecting is the interests of white men with money. Nothing in his or the Republican platform has any advantages for anyone else in the country. So while he may be squeaky clean and rather boring he is not interested in advancing anything but the big pockets of white guys who already have big pockets.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think the government owes me or anyone else anything! BUT I KNOW FOR SURE THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T OWE ANYTHING TO THE RICH WHITE GUYS THAT ROMNEY WILL GIVE FREE MONEY TO.
