He was worrried for awhile and little angry at the TEA party, but Orin Hatch won his primary in Utah, Tuesday , and is smiling again.

<<< Best looking 78 year old in Washington - Orin Hatch won his primary on his way to another 6 year term victory in the fall.  Good for him.

Salt Lake Tribune reports:
The tea party, big-spending PACs and challenger Dan Liljenquist failed Tuesday to force 78-year-old Orrin Hatch into retirement. The self-proclaimed "tough old bird" flew easily through the GOP primary, so now only Democrat Scott Howell stands between him and a record-shattering seventh term.

"I’m very energized by all this," Hatch said as it became clear he would likely win by a wide margin. "This will give us an opportunity to help Mitt Romney to get the things that will really turn this country around."
He vowed to keep working hard in the general election, and said he will continue to stress how important is for him to become chairman of the Finance Committee, if Republicans can win control of the Senate. "That’s where 60 percent of all the spending is [controlled], that’s where the entitlements are, it’s where the terrible tax code is … it’s all on that committee. Romney understands that," Hatch said . . . . . . you can read the full story here.

Editor’s note:  if you were not following this election,  Senator Orin Hatch out of Utah,  won a hotly contested primary,  tonight  (Tuesday) .  He was opposed by the TEA party in Utah and a number of local conservatives.
I was pleased to see the statesman win.  He was given the label,  “Establishment Republican,”  and,  to an extent,  he was that.  But Orin Hatch,  in my book,  was a practicing conservative long before that became cool.  I say he was “Establishment”  because he did not have any choice.  I spoke out early in favor of his candidacy,  not that such made any difference,  and was pleased with Sarah Palin and the Great One (Mark Levine) as each gave their full support to Orin, as well.

We need legislative perspective as we move forward with the coming conservative correction and Orin fits the bill perfectly.
