Dumbest Obama Ideas (updated for textual additions)

1.   Putting KSM on trial in NYCity:  Obama/Holder thought this was a good idea.  They were going to close GITMO and transfer KSM to New York,  for trial in a civilian court where KSM's charges would have been thrown out because of the violation of  Miranda Rights laws.   In their dreams,  Obama/Holder believed they could use the civilian setting for this trial to indict Bush and Cheney for war crimes,  destroying the Republican Party in the process.  Both men were of the radicalize Leftist opinion that the previous administration was guilty of war crimes.  In the end, the 250 million dollar per year cost of trial,  the fact that the Bush Administration got the approval of Congress for everything they did in Iraq,  the fact that select congressional figures including Nancy Pelosi,  were apprised of such issues as interrogation techniques,  the very real possibility that KSM would be released because of his battlefield "arrest" and lack of being Mirandized and Obama's own hypocrisy concerning his war efforts in Afghanistan (his private approval of torture, his continuation of rendition, the collateral deaths if innocents caused by his "death by drone" policy),  Libya, Egypt and parts of Africa,  all spelled an end to such nonsense.

2.  Shovel Ready jobs:  a year and half after the Stimulus,  Obama admitted "there were not as many shovel ready jobs as we had imagined."  Understand that the fantasy of "shovel ready" was at the center of his theory of success in creating jobs.  During this time of ignorance,  Obama frequently spoke of potholes that needed repair,  weather stripping that needed to be installed and bridges that demanded attention.  He no longer mentions these "work related:" ideas.  Turns out that existing state and county employees fix potholes,   existing businesses repaired weather stripping and bridge construction or repair takes years of permitting process to finalize.  Those of us in the trades,  knew all of this was a hoax from the very beginning.

3. The reset button:

Someone in the Obama Administration thought it would be a good idea to cruse a toy store,  buy a plastic "reset" button and use it as a symbol of the new diplomacy coming out of the White House.

Here is the more critical observation;  these same people are incharge of our ultimate safety in a world filled with "the enemy."  What we need in the next president is a level of maturity that will never allow for such sophomoric strategies.   Can you imagine,  someone in the Administration actually had to go shopping at a toy store  in the name of "effective foreign policy."  Geeeeesh.

4. Airing up our tires along with regular tune-ups would resolve our need for Middle Eastern oil.  How nuts was this comment ??

"There are things that you can do individually though to save energy," Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, said. "Making sure your tires are properly inflated, simple thing, but we could save all the oil that they’re talking about getting off drilling, if everybody was just inflating their tires and getting regular tune-ups. You could actually save just as much."

5. Health care promises: if not an outright lie,  the promise that we would all be able to keep our existing doctors and healthcare plans NO MATTER WHAT (only 15% of the population had no formal health insurance coverage), has to rank high on anyone's list of "Obama's Dumbest Moments."

“No matter how we reform healthcare, we will keep this promise to the American people, if you like your doctor, you will get to keep your doctor.”  (6/5/09).

Jun 15, 2009 – "If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what."

Huh? Did he say,  "No matter what ??????????!!!"  Wow.  It is now common knowledge that between 25 and 35 million workers will lose their doctors after being transferred into government provided health care services.  This is not so much a "dumb" statement on the part of Obama as it is a dumb statement for us to have believed.  It was a blatant lie from the beginning;  Obama designing a reform law that guaranteed the move into a public option and the lost of the existing doctor relationship.

6. Deciding not to capture and interrogate battlefield terrorists.  We now know far less about the terrorist world strategy,  because of Obama policy,  than we knew in 2005.  We are flying in the dark with no plans on the part of Obama to change this circumstance.
