Kilkenny writes: In late December, more than a half-dozen major museums and organizations, including the Smithsonian Institution and the New York Historical Society, announced they would begin collecting materials produced by the Occupy movement.
The timing seemed odd. Here was a movement in its infancy –not yet four-months old– that is still very much ongoing. For example, 68 people were just arrested in Zuccotti Park during a New Year's protest.
Naturally, the desire to preserve Occupy makes sense. The camps were temporary and any items left from their time are now precious relics any history enthusiast would be eager to examine. But the rush to archive, preserve, and endlessly study the Occupy Wall Street movement perhaps also reflects America's thirst for a grassroots protest, and the belief that any such movement is, by its very nature, extremely temporary. . . . continue her article here.
Editor's notes: like all good Marxist journalists, Allison looks the part. But it is her writing that is most distressing.
Nothing from her about the 8 million folks who demonstrated as TEA Party Americans and have won elections and changed the national debate from one of "spend, spend, spend," to one emphasizing fiscal responsibility and balanced budgets.
Nothing about the fact that the TEA Party is a grassroots movement, the sort of thing Allison believes has only occurred in the evolving Occupy movement.
She describes the Occupy Movement as "very much ongoing" and "extremely temporary." We agree.
She cites a demonstration of 68 aspiring hippie types as proof of the "movement" (as in "bowel movement") Understand that as I write this post, there are no more than 4,000 of these misfits running around the nation bemoaning their free speech rights.
Point of post: to remind the reader that these Marxist Liberals are everywhere. Their blogs out number the conservative effort four to one and their tales of success are both extremely exaggerated and tirelessly pushed forward.
