Obama's "approval numbers" have been written in stone for nearly two years. Meaning? Folks have already made up their minds.

What we have, here, is the past seven day report from Rasmussen Reports as to Obama's standing in the public's eye. While "Total Approval" is the number most often reported in the media, the "Strongly Approve" may be the more critical issue to his re-election. These are the people who are most likely to work for Obama in his campaign efforts.

In other reporting as relates to to the economy, Rasmussen sees only 33% supporting Obama in his handling of the economy.

What is surprising to some is the fact that many of these numbers are "locked in stone." While his "Total Approve" numbers have been the same, on average, for nearly two years, his "Strongly Approve" numbers have inched downward from 24/25 averages to 19/22 averages over the past 12 months.

All and all, Obama continues to present the lowest numbers for any presidency in modern history at this point in anyone's first term. All this demonstrates the fact that most Americans are settled in their voting opinions of Obama and are simply waiting for election day, 2012.

Understand that Obama has initiated a number of campaign themes since January of 2011; "I can't wait for Congress," "I am the only adult in the room," "Those dirty, rotten CEO's," "We need jobs now," "the man the terrorist fear the most," "I am all about balancing the budget," as well as comparing himself to Truman, Reagan, FDR and Teddy Roosevelt -- all to no avail. What he has avoided, like the plague, is his own record . . . . . but more on that in later postings.

Conclusion: with all his flaying around, Obama is facing a voting populace that has already made up its mind, one way or another, something that this editor has not seen in his 66 year life time. He is "down" in most demographics by 15%. He has to cut that percentage in half to be competitive in the coming election -- at least, that is my take on his re-election assignment.
