The solution to this matter could not be more uncomplicated. Social Security expected me to bring them certified copy of my actual birth certificate. They would not have accepted my word on the matter, newspaper clippings confirming the date of my birth, or my congressman's testimony. I had to bring them the certificate. Simple.
So why is this not the case with Obama's birth certificate? Even liberals such as Chris Matthews have called for the certificate. Again, the solution to this problem is an apparent "no brainer." The story below, is out of the very credible UK publication, Mail OnLine.
Pressure was mounting on Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie today amid increasing confusion over whether President Obama was born there. Abercrombie said on Tuesday that an investigation had unearthed papers proving Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961. He told Honolulu's Star-Advertiser: 'It actually exists in the archives, written down,' he said. But it became apparent that what had been discovered was an unspecified listing or notation of Obama's birth that someone had made in the state archives and not a birth certificate. And in the same interview Abercrombie suggested that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health. He said efforts were still being made to track down definitive vital records that would prove Obama was born in Hawaii.
Abercrombie was asked: 'You stirred up quite a controversy with your comments regarding birthers and your plan to release more information regarding President Barack Obama's birth certificate. How is that coming?' He acknowledged the birth certificate issue would have 'political implications' for the next presidential election 'that we simply cannot have'.
Interest in the matter had died down. And then came Abercrombie, the newly elected governor of Hawaii. The Obama's came t0 Hawaii for a 10 day vacation in December. Abercrombie decided to score points with the President by making his intentions clear to produce the Obama birth certificate and end debate over this matter. We reiterate this paragraph out of the MailOnLine report: "And in the same interview Abercrombie suggested that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health."
What has been put forth as proof of Obama's birth? Well, two years ago they, the Obama people, released a certificate that supposedly functioned as a legal confirmation for the existence of the actual birth certificate. Turns out, we have only this redacted "confirmation" but no actual birth document. We think this is critically important. Why wouldn't we ? Secondly, there is the matter of two newspaper articles from that day and time, announcing the Obama birth. Of course, we all know that such evidence cannot be faked, that they carry as much legal weight as any birth certificate. I mean, that is why no one (like Social Security offices) accepts newspaper announcement as proof of birth.
Last October 31, 2008, the Director of Health on Hawaii, made a statement in which she specifically said, I have seen the document. Here is the ABC story on this: There have been numerous requests for Sen. Barack Hussein Obama’s official birth certificate. State law (Hawai‘i Revised Statutes §338-18) prohibits the release of a certified birth certificate to persons who do not have a tangible interest in the vital record," DOH Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said.Fukino said she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama's original birth certificate."Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai‘i, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawai‘i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures," Fukino said. (cf. this LINK)
So, here is what we know. A Department of Health official claims to have seen the certificate but the Governor of the state cannot find it. Huh ???
Point of post: the birth certificate issue continues to grow because of contradictions implicit in this very post. You cannot have department heads and governmental representatives saying things that are diametrically opposed to one another, especially in a matter of importance such as this.
A wacko argument? Well, before the governor's failure to find the birth certificate, maybe. Before Chris Matthews (MSNBC), Clarence Page (Chicago Tribune), and David Corn (Mother Jones) called for the certificate, again, maybe. Before Barack left his 10 day vacation in Hawaii without visiting the Hall of Records with the purpose of bringing this matter to an end, once and for all time?
Obama and Company need to understand that this issue is not going away of its own accord. The sharks are in the water and they really smell blood. Know this, the longer this thing is allowed to fester, the more people believe there is something wrong and most of those folks will not vote for Obama. At some point, their growing numbers may reach critical mass as relates to Obama's re-election.
On the other hand, to produce the actual document would be a huge embarrassment for the far right. Maybe Obama is waiting to cast a death blow to the Rar Right. Maybe. But, the time to "throw down" is quickly approaching.
Perhaps Obama is shopping for some 8 ounce gloves as we write.
