To answer our own headlined question: Obama is sprinting to the "political center." Gibbs has been with Obama since his senatorial days. Last fall, Gibbs made it clear that he wanted to have a larger role in policy design. He was refused. The midterms confirmed the fact that Obama needs to shed the more controversial personalities within his immediate Administration. Rohm hit the road even before the November elections. All of his economic advisory panel are gone except Geithner. And now, Gibbs has been thrown under the bus.
"Thrown under the bus" too harsh of a judgment? The Europeans don't think so and neither do we. The UK Telegraph published this headline: blogs.telegraph.co.uk: Obama mouthpiece Robert Gibbs was forced out by new henchman William Daley . We do not expect to see this headline in the Obama News Media any time soon. They (the American media) thinks we will not know if they do not tell us.
And what is the consequence of this event? First, Gibbs was ousted by request from a "moderate Democrat" out of the Clinton Administration, William Daley of Chicago/Daley fame. Daley is a previous Commerce Secretary and banking executive and was brought into the Administration yesterday. Understand that the Obama Administration has been plagued with the presence of a extraordinary number of academics and pinheads. Only 8 % of the Administration's top-end personnel came out of the private sector, the poorest record in this regard of any president in history. Clinton's Administration featured 28% of folks out of the private sector, Bush was closer to 40%. Obama's total number of pinheads is a scary total and offers answers as to why his major bills have been so poorly constructed.
Meanwhile, the Left is screaming. They understand that Obama is moving away from them and doing so without any sense of impunity. The question for the 2012 elections is becoming clear: can Obama win in 2012 without his radical base? Many say 'no.' Obviously, Obama does not agree.
