Yesterday, MasterCard shut down donations to Wikileaks via its server. Today, supporters of Wikileaks responded by shutting down the giant credit card company and PayPal. Visa is also in the sights of the Wikileaks rebels, but has not been effect, as of this writing. PayPal and MasterCard have been effected.
Each reports that no money has been lost, but that claim is questionable.
Personal information is not effected, if you are a member of PayPal or MasterCard. That information, we are told, is safe because it is stored elsewhere. We wonder, if Wikileaks can access the MasterCard claims site, why can it not access its customer information site ?
You are looking at the first battle of "Cyber Wars." It includes MasterCard and PayPal, as mentioned above. Also, the lawyers representing the two women bringing charges against Julius Assange have had their websites shutdown. Likewise, the persecutor who had Assange arrested.
There is a full out war going on, complete with a distribution center selling software that provides individuals to "wage war" from their computers and for no grand reason.
