Update 2:44 pm pst, 12/22/2010: Midknight Review should have waited on its criticism of the GOP in this matter. We could not have been more off base. Shepard Smith was no more correct in his blowhard criticism of the GOP that were we. Read our correction here.
Fox News' Shep Smith Shames Coburn For Blocking 9/11 Bill: ‘This Is The Senator’ Blocking ‘Necessary Funding’ — It appears even loyal Fox News has turned on Senate Republicans for their obstruction of the 9/11 first responders bill. Fox & Friends demanded the bill be passed . . . .
Editor's notes: the above headline comes from a Marxist blog, ThinkProgress, and reflects as uninformed Leftist opinion as one can find on the net. The donut eater who is "ThinkProgress," does not spend his working hours watching/listening to FoxNews. I do.** Fox has not deserted the Republican cause nor is Fox critical of GOP's handling of the 9/11 bill.
Shepard Smith is critical of the GOP on this issue but Shepard Smith has been a blowhard news caster on Fox from day one. Smith has made it clear that he is no fan of conservative politics. He frequ ently invites folks onto his news cast for the purpose of humiliating them before his national televised audience. He loves "ambush" interviews and uses this "surprise attack" methods frequently. He has no respect for non-Roman Catholic religious fundamentalism, the conservative abortion debate. He is pro-marijuana legalization but without having an understanding of the issues that make this potential legislation a serious mis-step should it ever be implemented. Our chief complaint is that he is arrogant in his commentary and thoughtless in his rhetoric. He certainly does not understand the critical nature of the ideological conflict. He has no clue what Obama, Schumer, Frank, Pelosi, and other dedicated socialists are about.
All in all, we are saying that Smith is not Fox. In fact, it is a misnomer to claim that "Fox News," as a news agency, is supportive of any political party. Of course, Fox has Hannity, as partisan a Republican as there is. Glenn Beck is not a Republican. Bill O'Reilly is not a Republican. The morning shows are, indeed, fair and balanced. Greta is not a Republican and often floats to the Left. Megyn Kelly is conservative but not partisan. Geroldo Rivera is a flaming liberal on nearly all issues. Chris Wallace and Bret Baier run excellent shows and are hardly partisan in their presentations. Juan Williams is a full-time liberal advisor on Fox. Imus, on FoxBusiness, is much more liberal than conservative, on issue, and he has a three hour show each and every day. In fact, FoxBusiness is equally divided between conservative and liberal financial opinion.
Our point? Let's not use Fox's chief blowhard as someone typical of FoxNews programming and thought.
Understand, that Smith happens to be on the right side of the 9/11 Responders debate but he remains a political moron on issues. It is just luck that finds him on the right side of anything.
**Note: equal time is given to Morning Joe on MSNBC, John King at CNN. We don't listen to network programming at all. Our news portal collective includes Memeoramdum in spite of its Far Left headline postings.
