The first of the Lame Duck Sessions of Congress will be held this week. The second session will be conducted the week following the Thanksgiving holidays. Two weeks of Lame Duck and this bunch of misfits is gone. One of the critical issues ignored by the 111th Congress was the extension of the Bush tax cuts. The Dems ignored this matter for two years. Now, the day of reckoning has arrived. From the very beginning of the Bush cuts, the Dems have been telling folks that only the rich benefited from the actions of our 43rd President. Turns out they were lying. Read on.
First comment:
"We can't afford the Bush cuts for the rich. The cost is $700 billion over the course of ten years. "
This is the sentence you hear most often. Understand that this [the $700 billion number] breaks down to $70 billion a year compared to Obama inspired annual deficits of $1.4 trillion per year. A 7% reduction in spending pays for this tax " loss" if the tax increases are not put in place. Note: there is no tax cut to the rich. The current rates have been in place for nearly 10 years. The choice is between the Bush tax rates continuing or the increased Obama tax rates. Period.
The second comment is one that will not be mentioned by the Lefties; the cost of not raising taxes above the current Bush cuts to the middle class.
Remember, the Libs have said that Bush did not benefit the middle class, that his tax cuts were only for the rich. Remember ? Well, here is the fact the Libs hide from the public -- Bush cut $700 billion from the upper class while cutting 3 trillion dollars from the middle class.
If the Dems do not compromise on the tax issue, the middle class will be more effected than the upper class. A family of four making $50,000 a year will pay $2,900 a year more than before; a family of four making $100,000 will pay more than $4,400 in additional taxes. Understand that these families will pay more because George W. Bush gae them a huge tax cut, ten years ago.
The tax savings to a family of four making $50,000? $29,000 over the course of the past ten years. Bush deniars are little more than a collectiion of crooks and liars. This is proof. Disgusting.
Conclusion: the Dems have been lying to the nation for ten years, now. Turns out the tax cut issue is a critical concern because the middle class was so greatly benefited by George Bush. That 3 trillion dollars in middle class tax cuts? Half the "middle class" do not pay any income taxes at all, making the 3 trillion even more valuable to those who received the benefit.
Understand that "money issues" were matters the Dems were afraid to deal with. They were too busy saving the planet and paying off their friends. Heck, they never got around to writing a budget for the current fiscal year, something that was to be done last March. In addition to an actual "budget," they were to pass 13 different appropriation bills, each dealing with a specific budgetary concern. Each fiscal year, these 13 bills come up for amendment. Not one of these 13 appropriation bills has gotten out of "committee." First time in history.
