Coast Guard: Platform explodes in Gulf; 13 workers rescued — [Updated at 12:48 p.m.] David Reed, a paramedic on board the Rowan Gorilla II oil rig located 14 miles from the platform that exploded told submitted an iReport saying he saw all thirteen workers rescued from the water. . . . .

12 noon update: about 3 hours after the first report of this exploding well, an oil slick has been observed, about 100 feet wide and on mile long. The only good news is that this is not a deep water well. More as news is reported.
