WASHINGTON – Conservative superstar Ann Coulter today was dropped as a keynote speaker for WND's "Taking America Back National Conference" next month because of her plan to address an event titled "HOMOCON" sponsored by the homosexual Republican group GOProud that promotes same-sex marriage and military service for open homosexuals.

Joseph Farah, editor and chief executive officer of WND, said the decision was a gut-wrenching one for his team because of their fondness for Coulter as both a person and writer-speaker.
"Ultimately, as a matter of principle, it would not make sense for us to have Ann speak to a conference about 'taking America back' when she clearly does not recognize that the ideals to be espoused there simply do not include the radical and very 'unconservative' agenda represented by GOProud," said Farah. "The drift of the conservative movement to a brand of materialistic libertarianism is one of the main reasons we planned this conference from the beginning."
Asked by Farah why she was speaking to GOProud, Coulter said: "They hired me to give a speech, so I'm giving a speech. I do it all the time.". . . . . READ MORE >>>>
Editor's notes: WND has made a very disappointing decision. Even before they knew of the content of Coulter's speech, they decided to punish Coulter. Incredible. Understand that Midknight Review has had Libertarians quit our blog because of our thinking on this issue. Libertarians tend to think that gays have the right to "live and let live." We agree -- but we think that many political positions driven by the gay community are designed to [eventually ] shut down our right to object to their "lifestyle." In California, it is fine with us that gays have all the rights of married couples, but we oppose changing the definition of "marriage" because we believe that the end game in this political battle is the silencing of gay opposition - even in our churches.
But gays are a part of our society. What do we do with them? Is it a crime to even drive by a meeting hall full of these heterophobes ?? Do we not allow them jobs and housing and the freedom to come and go? If their private lives need popular approval but not ours, how does that work? Is it not a fact that we protect their right to privacy in order to force legal respect for our privacy?
When we jump the gun and ban Coulter for words that are unspoken and content that is unknown, do we not lend fodder to the notion of "homophobia?" Has no one ever listened to Ann Coulter on this subject, for crying out loud.
I allow for heterophobic speech in order to insure my "homophobic" rants and reasoned opinion.
