Three weeks ago, new jobless folks totaled 482,000. The next week, the number rose to 484,000. And this week, that increased to 500,000, the highest weekly total since last November 1, 2009.
Look, as an Administration, you cannot hate the people who create jobs and have a healthy jobs policy. Class warfare has been the name of the Obama game from the day he took office. He is anti private business, anti-free market, anti-capitalism and the fruits of his labor are what we are seeing today.
"We have broken the back of the recession" is now, officially, equal to that sign on the aircraft carrier, "Mission Accomplished."
Just two weeks ago, some of the Democrat leadership were "on the stump," putting out that Obama had already created more jobs than Bush did in the 8 years he was President. They don't want to admit that the economy went south during a Democrat controlled Congress; that Barney Frank, announcing the health of Fannie and Freddie just days before they collapsed, failed the American people as head of the House finance committee; that the Bush unemployment averages for his entire 8 year term was UNDER 5.7% -- including 2008.; that the Bush economy was the second healthiest in American history with a record 51 consecutive weeks of increased GDP and a debt to GDP ratio of under 40%. They want you to forget that Obama's debt to GDP ratio has risen to 65% in just 19 months, that his policies have lost 4 million jobs since becoming president, that all of the specific promises with regard to jobs creation were wrong if not out right lies and that he (Obama) voted for ALL of the Bush spending legislation.
The healthcare bill's rules and regulations have not been written and that will not be completed until sometime in 2014 !! In the meantime, insurance rates will increase dramatically over the course of the next 4 years to the tune of nearly $4,000 per year for a family of four. Anyone think these people will vote for Obama in 2012 ?
The fact that the healthcare bill was passed without the necessary rules and regulations having been written is a primary reason for the failure we see in the jobs market. Private free market business is ready to go back to work despite the rush of Marxist politicians now in power. But, small business has no clue as to the financial impact, in total, of the healthcare menace, the recent FinReg (Wall Street Reform) bill (it has not been written, either), pending legislation such as the Cap and Trade bill or the effects of the highest tax increases in American history coming in 2011 -2014.
Referring to the above, the conclusion is undeniable: Obama and Company are directly responsible for the current and continuing crisis.
500,000 folks reporting for first time benefits this past week -- THAT is the number Obama cannot deny and it is his number.
