A campaign ad on Drudge is taken down and with good reason. We may run this story more than once - it is that important !!

Turns out this ad violates Pentagon rules. Here is the story found in the Idaho Statesmans (a newspaper).

Congressional candidate Vaughn Ward has violated a Pentagon directive prohibiting the impression that his campaign is supported by the military, according to the Marine Corps.

Ward is a Marine major assigned to 28 days of annual reserve duty at the Office of Legislative Affairs in Washington, D.C. Ward won a Bronze Star with Combat V for valor for leading a Marine company in Iraq from April to October 2006.

Ward and state Rep. Raul Labrador are the top candidates in the May 25 Republican primary. The winner will challenge Democratic Rep. Walt Minnick in November.

The Marine Corps wrote Ward earlier this month saying his online ad on the Drudge Report website on March 31 and April 1 violated the directive. The ad showed Ward in camouflage and body armor and said, "With Your Help I Will Vote To Repeal ObamaCare!"

The $2,500 ad encouraged contributions and directed viewers to the campaign website, vaughnward.com.

But the ad failed to provide the"prominent and clearly displayed disclaimer that neither the military information nor photographs imply endorsement by the Department of Defense or their particular Military Department."

The ad had no disclaimer of any kind.

*******

The editor here at Midknight Review is most upset with this ad. Clearly it should have never been posted. What were people thinking? To imagine that freedom of political speech can be extended to members of the Armed Forces is almost beyond comprehension. Everyone knows that folks with guns AND a political agenda are, by definition, terrorists. I mean, what else could they be? Just look at the guy (in the ad). Clearly, he is not thinking right - looking to the world through rose colored glasses and all !! Almost looks like he is still angry with that first Bush/Gore election, down there in Florida. Remember that? Gore did not want the military vote to be counted for fear that it might be too conservative a count. Think of it - a military man with a vote just might be more dangerous to "the enemy" than a military man with a gun and an opinion. We support our government for going after this ad. Go gov !! Go gov !!

We ask our readers to not send this vagrant ANY CAMPAIGN DONATIONS in spite of the fact that he cares for his country and wants to serve it in as many ways as possible. A man has to have his priorities. We just might run this story more than once - just in case the public missed the point of this important expose' --- if you know what I mean. --- jds
