Midknight Review -- new and revised: Modeling, what is it and why do so many dogmatically defend its use.

To be clear, modeling is a mathematical "event" that projects a numerical conclusion as in the case of Corona, averaging totals such as temperature in the case of global warming, or rates of frequency as in the case of the aftermath of Katrina (2005) and the predictions of 17 major weather events the following year.

In the end, after this crisis is over as concerns Corona, we are going to see "modeling" as being a very inaccurate predictive tool. Tucker, on Fox, was busy three weeks ago arguing for the possibility of 2.2 million deaths in the United States. Turns out that his prediction was based on a conscensus opinion (and there are many such opinions on any given subject) that was never true but for "consensus opinion."

Understand this: an opinion that goes beyond the test tube, is only and always an opinion. Such is the mixing of philosophy with science or mathematical science. A stated "opinion" is neither sceince nor exclusive of opposing opinions in a necessarily an viable way. Hence, a consensus opinion always stands in the company of other "consensus opinions."

But the Left with its compulsion for shared wealth (i.e. wealth redistribution) is tied to modeling as a unborn infant is tied to a life giving umbilical cord. Without mathematical modeling, there simply is no case for global warming that extends beyond the anecdotal.

Finally, understand that there is always a specific agenda tied to a particular model. A true student will make note of the model and search for attached agenda. just know this: Every agenda embraces (where appropriate) some sort of modeling to prove its reason or necessity for existence. Often, there is no established reason for an agenda apart from a well presented model.

Social justice models judicial abuses, domestic-abuse-resolutions model abuse statistics, crisis weather reporting will model the frequency of hurricanes, or flooding statistics and so on. Facts attached to predictions. The facts are science, The predictions are the product of philosophy.

Now you know.
