The Weekly Standard is not expected to survive going into 2019 and is preparing to shut down permanently, according to a current staff member and former member of the magazine’s parent company who spoke to The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Rumors had been circulating throughout the media class Tuesday about the fate of The Weekly Standard in the wake of the magazine’s dwindling readership and circulation, despite a rebranding effort as the preeminent right-leaning periodical for conservatives opposed to President Trump.
Editor: Out of this article at the Daily Caller, we learn that Billy Krystol may decide to run for President. Incredible. After separating himself from the voter base, Krystol thinks he has earned enough popularity to run for the High Office. Never mind that the Conservative Base began a movement supporting true conservatives back in 2006. We got rid of the John Boehners of this world, didn't support Romney in a winable 2012 national election, destroyed the Democrat Party in the midterms of 2010 and 2014, and elected our own President in 2016. Win, lose or draw in 2020, we are not going away. The Progressive Left remaining within the GOP had better learn that lesson, or it will go the way of other "moderates" within the GOP . . . . not to mention the Weakly Standard.
