Sadly, this and most shootings, are local matters.

New York Times:
Texas Church Shooting Leaves at Least 26 Dead, Officials Say  —  SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, Tex. — A gunman wearing all black and a ballistic vest opened fire with a rifle outside a small Baptist church in rural Texas and continued firing inside the building on Sunday, killing at least 26 people …

Editor's notes:  I have no intention of adding to the flow of news concerning the recent church mass murders.  Nor do I intend to add to the discussion on gun control initiated by an ignorant populace that knows little about the actual facts regarding violent gun deaths in American.

For example,  the Left Out folks will cite "33,000" deaths per gun violence each year.  They do not tell you that 19,800 are suicides and nearly 10,000 are the result of gang killings.  That leaves just over 3,000 deaths that are more complicated killings   . . . .   not 33,000.

Obviously,  we cannot prevent suicides,  and these folks would kill themselves with or without a gun.  Gang killings are a matter of prison housing,  law enforcement and long long jail terms.  Getting guns off the streets is not the solution, per se.  Rather,  it is about getting the punks doing the killing, off our streets.  We don't need them.
