Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott
Pruitt announced he would sign a proposed rule to repeal the centerpiece
of former President Barack Obama’s plan to fight global warming.
Pruitt announced
his intention to withdraw the Clean Power Plan (CPP) to applause from a
crowd gathered at a mining event on Monday. EPA has been working to
repeal the CPP for months.
The Obama administration finalized the CPP in 2015, which aims to cut
carbon dioxide emissions from power plants 32 percent below 2005 levels
by 2030. Obama used the CPP as part of his plan to meet the goals of
the Paris climate accord.
Problem: The Supreme Court within months of the Obama order, placed a stay on the proposition in early 2016. The plan was never put into effect. Turns out the Obama plan was not in compliance with the US Constitution, like so many of his crap-ideas.
Barack tried to tell Americans this plan would only cost 8 billion dollars, to which we argue: Has anyone ever seen a government cost estimate that was remotely accurate. Multiply his estimate by 4 or 5 and you will be close to the actual cost.
At any rate: Trump is keeping his promises, the most significant being his pledge to represent the working man and the forgotten Middle American. Power to the Chief !!
ReplyDeleteMy girlfriend is a highly qualified chemical engineer working in a high level position for a global company. She trains environmental supervisors in protocols for handling dangerous toxic waste spills. Due to the new standards Trump has enacted, coal companies now allowed to dump hazardous waste directly into streams and the aquifer. This waste includes arsenic and toxic heavy metals known to cause cancer. Why would he do this? Because he's 'in it for the little guy.'
" . . . . . coal companies now allowed to dump hazardous waste directly into streams and the aquifer. ?" Simply not true. This is all you have, lies and fear mongering.
DeleteYou are aware that Obama's coal policies were put on hold by the Supreme Court and his policies were never put into practice? Also, the coal industry is "all in" for clean coal and are working to toward clean water and air.
" Simply not true" ... if that's what you believe then why did you delete my supporting link. You think you know more about regulations than someone who works closely with the EPA on toxic waste disposal? If you really think it was a lie, why the cowardly deletion?
DeleteI know what I know. And I know that your source authors believe that lying for the greater good is fully acceptable. So I do not print their crap. And I , also, know that the men and women in the coal industry care about their immediate environment and would never poison it for the sake of a few bucks. You are no more committed to clean water and air than they. The difference between you and they? They need to work. You do not give a crap about their need to work.
Delete"I know what I know" .. your premise "they need to work" is false:
ReplyDeleteAccording the Congressional Research Service, the canceled clean water rule protect waterways from coal mining pollution would have caused relatively few layoffs within the industry and created nearly as many new jobs, according to a government report. It is pandering to a dirtbag base of polluters in an antiquated industry that essentially shortens the life of it's workers.

Sheer BS. You can't cut emissions by 30% without cutting jobs in a massive way. Those "new jobs" will be tech jobs, not jobs for Middle America. No one in the Democrat Party gives a damn about middle america and that fact is now becoming a major problem for the New Age Commies among us.
Delete2), Trump is getting a lot of of attention for rolling back the Stream Protection Rule, but it’s not going to put anyone back to work. It’s responsible for maybe a hundred mining jobs out of a total decline of 30,000 between 2009 and 2020.
ReplyDeleteMore than 60,000 jobs have been lost to the Obama regulatory regime, not "maybe a hundred." Secondly, we are talking about an entire culture of repressive regulations. Obama's agenda was struck down by the Supreme Court 35 to 40% of the time and that is because he saw the Constitution a white man's document. It is part of the reason why he designed a new American flag and trashed the historicity of our American flag.

You, sitting in your ivory tower, far removed from the working man, have no idea how difficult it is to run a business in the face of OSHA and EPA regulations and feckless restrictions. These agencies have become weapons of the Left and need to be restrained or taken down, altogether. And I have 35 years of graduate level education on this issue(s).
