Assembly Bill 1511 (in California) would effectively end the
long-standing practice of temporarily loaning a firearm for lawful
purposes. Under this legislation the ability to loan a firearm to
anyone other than a family member, absent limited exceptions, would now
be prohibited unless conducted through a dealer. Gun control advocates
are pushing legislation like AB 1511 under the guise that this will keep
firearms out of the hands of criminals. Criminals do not go to FFL’s
to loan their firearms out to their friends.
Editor's notes: I live in California. I don't loan my guns to anyone nor would I. So I don't care about this law. Besides, the only way they will catch you is if someone actually shoots somebody and law abiding gun owners almost never do. But more than this: In California, paper work on long guns is destroyed within a year of registration. So, no one of import knows about your rifles and shotguns, anyway.
What you have, here, is a law that has nothing to do with fighting crime or preventing another terrorist attack. Let the clowns beat their chests and pretend they are doing something. Me? I'm going coyote hunting. No worries.
