Trump supporters are not typical to the larger conservative population nor GOP party membership . . . . an important consideration as you read the recent PPP results.

PPP polling:   Our new poll finds that Trump is benefiting from a GOP electorate that thinks Barack Obama is a Muslim and was born in another country, and that immigrant children should be deported. 66% of Trump's supporters believe that Obama is a Muslim to just 12% that grant he's a Christian. 61% think Obama was not born in the United States to only 21% who accept that he was. And 63% want to amend the Constitution to eliminate birthright citizenship, to only 20% who want to keep things the way they are.

Editor's notes:  As the readership knows,  I am no fan of Trump, but,  he just might be God's revenge on the GOP.  I don't think God likes liars, cheats, and scam artists any more than I do,  and that is where GOP leadership has gone.  Until the beginning of this year,  I supported McConnell and,  to a lesser degree,  Boehner.  But they have told too many lies and worked aggressively against their conservative base for far too long,  for me to continue that support.   In fact,  when they compromised with Obama on the trade bill,  in April,  and gave him what his own party refused to provide,  that was the end of the matter for me.

As far as the PP poll is concerned,  just know that GOP primary participants (for all candidates combined) constitute only 18% of registered Republicans  (I am a registered Independent and do not give to the GOP in any way, financially).  Trump,  with his 23%, has 23% of the 18% voting in the GOP primary process.  Whatever PPP has concluded,  the reader should know that its findings typify some of Trump's followers, and,  is not an indictment of the larger GOP population.
