Discussion: Posit: The Pope's sense of social justice . . . . . . a brief reader/editor debate.

<<< When Francis insists that wealth distribution be the work of the politician,  he has violated his own desire for "service"  versus authoritarian dictates (read "rule")   . . . . . . .   because wealth distribution on a national scale only exists as a government forces itself on its populations.   Understand that the key to wealth distribution is the ending of private property ownership.  When only the State owns property,  Communism wins   . . . . . . . . .    period.

Pope Francis:
"This system is by now intolerable: farmworkers find it intolerable, laborers find it intolerable, communities find it intolerable, people find it intolerable ... The earth itself ... also finds it intolerable.

And behind all this pain, death and destruction there is the stench of what Basil of Caesarea, one of the church's first theologians, called 'the dung of the devil.' An unfettered pursuit of money rules. That is the dung of the devil.

Working for a just distribution of the fruits of the earth and human labor is not mere philanthropy. It is a moral obligation. For Christians, the responsibility is even greater: it is a commandment.

It is not enough to let a few drops fall whenever the poor shake a cup which never runs over by itself.

I humbly ask forgiveness, not only for the offenses of the Church herself, but also for crimes committed against the native peoples during the so-called conquest of America.

The new colonialism takes on different faces. At times it appears as the anonymous influence of mammon: corporations, loan agencies, certain 'free trade' treaties, and the imposition of measures of 'austerity' which always tighten the belt of workers and the poor.

Our common home is being pillaged, laid waste and harmed with impunity. Cowardice in defending it is a grave sin. We see with growing disappointment how one international summit after another takes place without any significant result."

  1. The Pope has nothing to do with the conquest of America and has no right or obligation to apologize for other peoples sins. He bastardizes the concert of "colonialism" to make it include what it does not include as he speaks to a very certain idealistic end game that has no practical application in this world, AND, we have no commandment to spread the wealth of the world via the State's totalitarian authority. Francis knows the words of Christ, “the poor you will have with you always,” and Paul’s admonition “if a man will not work, let him not eat.” And while you (Anonymous) have no regard for Paul or his Christ, Francis does or so he claims. Leave it to a communist sympathizer to get things as confused as Francis has done.

Not everything he says is disagreeable to me, but when he uses just-criticism to further his God-ordained socialist pursuits (a pronounced form of godless-communism), he goes too far. He is has no authority in my life and, clearly, in view of your atheism, he has no authority in yours. So why bring him up?

  1. The Pope is putting forth Christ-like philosophy. Smithson represents greedy money changers in the temple.

Smithson falsely assumes, "wealth distribution on a national scale only exists as a government forces itself on its populations. Understand that the key to wealth distribution is the ending of private property ownership."

A paranoid delusion and a shill for the Koch Bros vision of America. Tax cuts for the wealthy and big oil, eliminating the minimum wage, slashing Medicare and dismantling Social Security. Accumulating wealth at the expense of the working class.

    1. Like I said, "Francis knows the words of Christ, “the poor you will have with you always,” and Paul’s admonition “if a man will not work, let him not eat.” The fact remains that wealth distribution as a function of function of government (or "on a national scale") can only be a reality as that government forces itself on the population via fees, regulations, and regressive taxation. After the collection are made, the government then doles out the money it does not keep for itself to the folks as welfare benefits.

And, if Anonymous does not believe that private property rights are not a target of the Utopian fairness crowd, simply answer the Utopian question, "What's fair about property ownership when the common man cannot afford to own property?" Or, better yet, the reader is encouraged to look up "Agenda 21" as she seeks to understand the Utopian thinking on "sustainability" and the weaponization of eminent domain.

    2. I found this comment on Google written by Google: "Agenda 21 is a non-binding, voluntarily implemented action plan of the United Nations with regard to sustainable development. It is a product of the Earth Summit (UN Conference on Environment and Development) held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992." While this UN vote supporting the implementation of Agenda 21 was non-binding, it nonetheless sets the future agenda of this One World body of despots and thieves. If the Pope was more attune to the political reality of the godless One Worlders, he would see the dangers of this agenda idea. But, of course, he probably believes in the UN concept, himself.

    3. Indeed. And you should know that Bush 41 was supportive of Agenda 21, at least in part.
