HOW IT'S PLAYING - "Walker feeling the heat: He says he's ready
for 2016 but the Wisconsin governor hasn't faced anything like this," by
James Hohmann: "After a barrage of recent criticism for not
answering questions about foreign policy or evolution, and not speaking
up after Rudy Giuliani accused ... Obama of not loving America, it was
more of the same for Walker on Saturday. During gaggles with reporters
at the National Governors Association meeting in Washington, he was
hounded by questions about whether he agrees with Giuliani. ...
"He is trying to position himself
as a candidate who can bridge the establishment, tea party and
evangelical wings of the party. Late Saturday afternoon, he went to the
offices of Americans for Tax Reform for a meeting with fiscal
conservative luminaries, including Grover Norquist.
"Walker was by far
the biggest draw at the governors' event at the JW Marriott, and the
contrast with other likely 2016 Republican candidates was conspicuous.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, coming off a banner year as chair of the
Republican Governors Association, avoided the media and spent Saturday
in private meetings before leaving town."

Editor's notes: "Walker feeling the heat . . . . hasn't faced anything like this." So James Hohmann arrogantly wants you to believe that Politico and the national media are the "big boys." The implication is this: "If we had been in Madison, Walker would not be governor, today."
But Politico and the "big boys" were there. That was their best opportunity to knock Walker out of the presidential race, forcing him out as Governor. No, "they" were all there and failed . . . . . miserably. Not answering questions about evolution, or Giuliani's rhetoric, or whatever they think is the next "big story" about Scott Walker . . . . . . none of that will stick to the man. Short of a real scandal, Walker is free to craft his own future. Hey, they did not vett Obama. Instead, they committed themselves to the opposite approach.
I am hoping that the GOP candidates refuse to be "vetted" by a press so biased, they actually believe that "this is no time for objective journalism." In fact, I listened to Chris Matthews make that statement on more than one occasion, seven years ago. I doubt anything has changed.
The GOP needs to present itself to the people of America, without the lens of Marxist, One World, Utopian flower power on display. Its time for the adults to run the county.
