Polling numbers sharply different when Low Information Amerians are contrasted with the most informed of all voters, the US Military.

<<<<       These are the polling results found in a PEW Research poll.  What we have,  in this case,  is a very popular Obama as judged by the Low Information Class.  We know these folks are "Low Information" types because of the "trustworthy" rating.  It is a demonstrable reality that Obama is pathological when it comes to lying and/or misinformation.  He is so extreme in this category,  that we can find examples of this pathology in nearly every speech he has made since becoming whatever it is that he thinks he is. In short,  if they trust him,  they either do not care about his lies, or,  are too busy making a living to pay any attention.

Example:  After the District Court's rejection of his immigration order,  this week,  Obama said that he had no choice but to wait for the Court's final decision,  after all,  "We are a nation of laws."  The following day,  he made it clear that he would not wait, that if he won the appeal,  he would proceed, even before the Court's have made their final decision.

I do think it significant that Low Information folks know enough, however,  to believe that he cannot get things done and do not see him as a strong leader.

What will be missed as the media interprets the above results is the fact of Obama's downward trend regarding all five categories polled in this Research survey  . . . . . .  and a startling downward trend it is.  Think about this:  if this downward trend is as pronounced as it is with his supporters,  what must it be with those who care about the direction of this once great nation, folks who actually go out and vote without being dragged onto a bus where "volunteers" help them fill out their ballots.

By way of contrast and context,  we have this alternative poll:    In terms of fighting the war against terror,  the single best informed class of Americans are those who are actually on the battle field,  our soldiers.  In a Military Times poll, (see immediately below),   our military men and women give him a 15% approval rating as to leadership and effectiveness.   Clearly,  PEW did not interview any of these people.  But, still, the (PEW) results are what they are.

As to the military poll,  I am thinking that if  we try to understand the "why" of  "15% approve but only 60% disapprove,"  the only resolution  to this disparity  (I mean,  if 15% approve,  shouldn't the disapproval percentage be 85 ?),  is to realize that you are looking at a measure of emotion within the military.  While only 15% approve,  60% are impassioned in their negative opinion of their Commander.

What did not get measured,  and must be as part of the "passionate disapproval numbers,"   is Obama's disgraceful "rules of engagement" coupled with his refusal to pursue a winning strategy as to any military threat.  No doubt,  Obama's abandonment of Iraq and his promise to do the same,  in Afghanistan,  are contributing factors,  as well.

Do you approve or disapprove of the way President Obama is handling his job as commander in chief?
The president has never been popular with the military, but his approval among active-duty troops has cratered in the last year.

  1. Kids who enter the military usually aren't smart enough, or are too poor to go to college. They have few options. That's the way it's always been. Not our best and brightest.

    1. Bullshit. I must know 30 or more soldier types, right now, all considerable more intelligent than any Utopian I have ever talked. Apparently your circle of military friends are rather stupid, but no mine.

    2. Considering the people you know are rednecks like yourself... not sayin' much.

    3. I must know 70 to 80 people up close and personal. A half dozen are in crisis mode, financially, not thanks to Flower Power; about a third are business owners, ranchers, and of the millionaire class; the remainder are teachers, lawyers, a few pastors, five or six doctors, medical and pharmaceutical staff and, maybe, four officers of the law. I read Karl Barth and study two/three hours a day (you read absolutely no one of his intellectual stature. That I am sure of). My biker buds are easily, as intelligent as you. I am hardly the "one toother" you pretend I am . . . . . . and I kick your intellectual ass 9 out of 10.

    4. Don't make me come over there, take you to the mat and pin you.

Barth's entire output was based on a Pauline fantasy, no more valid than Joe Smith's golden plates. Amazing he spent so much time and energy on a worthless piece of dogma. You're reading the wrong Karl, try Carl Sagan, you might actually learn something.

    5. Go to a library or a local Reformed Seminar and check out one Barth's Church Dogmatics. Until you do, you know less than nothing about Barth, probably most influential theologian since Paul or Anslem. But lets move on. This is not your field of expertise.

And if you come over here, bring your partner. She will get along great with my wife. And if you want to take it to the mat, I have two sons that are closer to your age than my 15 years and much closer to your weight. Anytime.
