In his Inaugural Address (2009) , Obama promised to extend a hand, not a fist, to those who have disagreements with the U.S. . . . . a great comment but for one very important matter, at the time he made that statement, most of Europe (France, Britain, Germany, Belgium, the Neatherlands, etc.) was in the midst of a 20 year history of practicing what Obama was preaching.
Today, six years after telling us, "We leave behind an Iraq that is strong, stable and sovereign," two years after Obama told us "al Qaeda has been decimated," and, a year to this month, after he framed al Qaeda as "J.V.," the world is in flames with Muslim terror at the center of the stage.
France and its European allies, are in their second week of taking down more than a hundred (to date) home-grown terror organizations within their countries . . . . more than 100. In the demonstrations, more than a week ago, the one Obama and company decided to ignore, nearly 4 million Europeans went to the streets to express their resolve and support in taking down violent Muslim extremism. What is significant in this effort, the largest demonstrations in French history, is the fact that "violent Muslim extremists" are being named, specifically, while our president and his Administration, continues to refuse that label, as if Obama's refusal has any meaning at all, to the jihadist hordes.
Don't get me wrong, we need to offer a hand to those who will not cut that hand off. But, we, also, need to clench our fists and carry our guns (speaking as a national effort) as we take the fight to them. Obama is correct in that we need to "offer a hand." While I am not certain as to what that includes, in his thinking, non-military efforts, a show of domestic grace combined with a cautious awareness, need to be a part of our strategy.
We must not ignore the lessons learned from what has happened in Europe. The desire to live peacefully with Islam, has been rejected by the jihadists, violent or not, and France/England are in a very difficult circumstance, as a result.
If Hillary should win in 2016 (not likely, in my opinion), she will be more militant in her approach and trust the military much more, than Obama and the Harvard Academia that is currently in charge of our national leadership.
Understand that more than 400 Americans have been killed or injured, in the homeland, since 2009. And, two failed attempts (a car bomb in NY City and the underwear bomb on a flight that would have killed more than 260 people) could have doubled that number, but for the grace of God.
They are already here, folks. Let France be fair warning to us all. We need to stop with the partisan scoring on this matter. The danger rises far above partisan politics and most of us, on both sides of the aisle, know this (I hope).
