Let's be clear: in one of his debates with Romney during the 2012 campaign, Obama made it clear that he never intended to leave any troops in Iraq, whether Status of Forces troops, or otherwise. All this talk about Bush failing to secure a Status of Forces agreement? The fact of the matter is this: Obama campaigned on getting us out of Iraq. Leaving any troops, even it was just three men, would not have advanced his agenda. He didn't believe Iraq was an American problem, anyway. Well, Bush left a "strong and stable" Iraq, by Obama's own admission, to the Obama Administration. It was Obama's time to end the war as planned, but he, Obama, had his own plans, and that was simply, to desert the nation of Iraq, and walk away . . . . . . . . . period.
In this video (you may want to keep this little gem), GW Bush not only understood the nature of his "victory" but the terrible results of pretending the war in Iraq was over. In his predictions of an Iraq without American assistance, GW was almost scary in the exactness of his predictions.
What should Obama have done? Occupied Iraq? At our expense?
ReplyDeleteObama is well into forming a coalition to kicj ISIS ass. This will be one of his many great legacies he will leave to for the Hillary admin.
