Democrat leaders who are also Catholic, are so used to having their way when it comes to changes in orthodoxy, whether that orthodoxy be the US Constitution or the Church dogma, they actually believe that doctrine is determined by the well of the people and popular opinion. While the left points to the American Catholic as approving of abortion and contraceptives, the larger church is not that way, certainly when it comes to abortions. It is the American Catholic who is out of touch with her church and its Pope.
