Another list of promises turned into lies - 29 promises-to-lies on this list. (There is so much more - hundreds, in fact.)

  1. Promised seniors making less than $50,000 no more income tax levied  Never brought it up after ascending to the throne. Did not try.
  2. Promised a ceiling of 8% unemployment.  Failed in this promise miserably,  the unemployment rate rising to 10% by October of 2009.
  3. Promised to double federal funding for cancer research.  Never mentioned after Jan 20, 2009.
  4. Lower employee count for companies having to abide by the Family Leave Act from 50 to 25 employees – did not mentioned after election
  5. Promised to reject the Military Commission Act.  which allowed the U.S. to circumvent Geneva Conventions in the handling of detainees.  Never visited this promise. Never tried.
  6. Promised to eliminate gas and oil loopholes.  Did not happen.
  7. Increase dividends and capital gains tax.  Did not happened.  Compromised this away in deal with Mitch McConnell.
  8. Create a foreclosure prevention fund for homeowners.  Instead, created a foreclose bailout,  that promised to help 4 million homeowners but only gave aid to 600,000 and 30% of those still lost their homes.
  9. Promised to end no bid contracts on jobs over $25,000.  Never mentioned it after election.  The current arrangement benefits unions.
  10. Promised to enforce “pay as you go” legislation.  Instead,  he supervised the increase of $3.5 trillion in annual debt,  not counting TARP.  It is clear,  that,  as a Progressive Democrat,  he simply does not believe in cutting spending or balancing the budget.
  11. Promised to repeal Bush tax cuts for the “rich.”  Instead,  agreed to a compromised with GOP that extended tax “cuts” under Bush.
  12. Promised to pass the card check law,  making it possible to unionized a business without a secret ballot. This did not happen. He could have passed this into law during 2009 - 2010,  when he had super majorities in both houses of Congress.
  13. Promised to disallow bonuses paid to execs in companies that claimed bankruptcy. Did not happen.  Did not try.
  14. Promised to allow imported prescription drugs.  Turns out he is in bed with Big Pharma.  This did not happen.
  15. Promised to close GITMO before his first year in office was over.  Did not try.  Just talked the issue into remission.
  16. Promised to establish habeas corpus rights for detainees.  Court decisions denied such rights to enemy combatants. Instead,  he, now,  kills  American born "combatants"  without court order and in avoidance of due process.  He is jusdge, jury and executioner  -  the first president to ever make this a power of the presidency.
  17. Promised to double size of Peace Corps to 16,000.  Made no serious effort . Did not even try.
  18. Promised a Latin America crime strategy.  We are still waiting on this.
  19. Promised to  create a centralized Internet database of lobbying reports, ethics records, and campaign finance filings in a searchable, sortable and downloadable format."  Not even close.  At last report (3/15/2014 - he hopes to accomplish this very unpopular goal via turning supervision over to an international over-lord agency.
  20. Promised to not enlist lobbyist in his Administration.  At last count he had 17  ex-lobbyists on board in his inner circle and  more than 300 lobbyists in the Green Business Community and related progressive enterprises.
  21. Allow 5 days for public to review publish laws before signing.  Never gave this promise a second thought.
  22. Promised to make White House communications public.  Instead,  is fighting to keep emails and White House visitor registry off limits to the public view. His refusal to comply with Freedom of Information requests doubled in 2012 compared to his refusals in 2009.
  23. Promised to double funding for after school programs.  Not even a second thought.
  24. Create scholarships to recruit new teachers.  Did not happen. Did not try.
  25. Promised to require all schools of education to be accredited.   Did not happen. Did not try. This would limit the freedoms of private school programs.
  26. Promised a comprehensive immigration law in the first year of his presidency.  After election,  he never mentioned it (during that first year). Forget about comprehensive immigration;  he could have passed comprehensive amnesty during 2009. Did not happen.  Did not try.
  27. Promised to allow bankruptcy judges to modify terms of home mortgages.  Again,  not even close.
  28. Promised a $9.50 minimum wage after initially promising $11 per hour.  He could have passed a minimum wage bill during 2009/2010 when he had no opposition from the GOP.  Did not happen.  Did not try.
  29. Promised to endorse the goal of sending human missions to the Moon by 2020, as a precursor in an orderly progression to missions to more distant destinations, including Mars.  This is not just a promise broken,  it is an outright lie.  There is no space program.

  2. Re: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/01/23/bush.iraq/. I would encourage my readers to paste this reference into their browsers and read the Politico article. The article claims Bush lied about WMD's, the threat Saddam posed to the world community, and the ties al Qaeda had within Iraq. The article includes a Bush defense of charges that he lied. They charge is that Bush told 935 lies. That is not what the article says. First, in talking about Bush, the total number of "false statements" is 232. These are "statements" made, not different lies, told. Total number of different "lies" told? At most three and these are not "lies" in the typical sense; not like the deliberate lies told to fool the American people about ObamaCare or the hundreds of DIFFERENT lies told during the 2008 campaign. No, these "lies" were actually disagreements over information received by our intel services. WMD's, al Qaeda's influence within the country, and Saddam's threat to world peace.

The reader should know that the two journalist groups cited in creating this ridiculous story, were Bush hating, One World, collectivists - hardly "non-partisan" reporters.

More than this, Bush got his information from George Tenet's CIA, which was Bill Clinton's CIA !!!

Understand that Clinton told Bush about the WMD's and it was Bill Clinton's plan for Iraqi regime change that Bush used. When this information (WMD) was confirmed by every other major intel agency in the world, well, Bush's comments, afterward, are hardly lies. From the time he served notice to Saddam to March of 2003 and the invasion, Saddam had 14 months to move his weapons to the north and out of the country . . . into Syria. At the same time, Saddam was making the claim that he had WMD's, himself. Saddam CONFIRMED the existence of WMD's. So why not believe the man? We, the US, had no reason to doubt Saddam's claim. Nearly 40,000 al Qaeda and related forces were killed in the 5 year war and the US homeland did not experience a single terror attack during the Bush days.

Under Obama, Iraq has been surrendered to the enemy, the Afghan war is laughable failure, and we have had more than 300 Americans killed or wounded in 6 terror attacks in our homeland along with half a dozen unreported attacks on various power grids, since Obama began his golf tour as America's first Black and White President.
