WASHINGTON — The White House and State Department signed off on
surveillance targeting phone conversations of friendly foreign leaders, current
and former U.S. intelligence officials said Monday, pushing back against
assertions that President Obama and his aides were unaware of the high-level
eavesdropping.
Professional staff members at the National Security Agency and other
U.S. intelligence agencies are angry, these officials say, believing the
president has cast them adrift as he tries to distance himself from the
disclosures by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden that have strained ties with
close allies. . . . . read the fullaccount here.
Editor’s notes:
You would think that this line of defense would be embarrassing to the
Administration, but, apparently,
it does not have enough sense to understand that in making this
defense, it is admitting to its own
radical incompetence.
Think about it:
Bengahzi: “I was
never fully informed about this situation.”
Fast and Furious: “I
only read about it in the papers.”
IRS Targeting Scandal:
“I had no personal knowledge that this was going on.”
Spygate: "The president was made aware of the seriousness of this issue, reading about it in the morning papers."
While the wording given above is not verbatum, it captures Obama's line of defense: "I did not know; I found out by reading it in the papers; I am as shocked as any of you . . . . . . . blah blah blah."
I raised five kids and each came up with similar excuses . . . . . . . . . . when they were six years old !!!
