1. It is being reported that there is a loophole in the bill
that allows immigrants immediate access to welfare benefits, both state and federal. Of course,
such is not a “loophole” at all,
but a provision of the bill that are being called a "loophole.”
In a document put out by Health and Human Services, we find this stipulation: “While
unauthorized immigrants are not eligible for any of the ACA provisions
(ObamaCare - editor), lawfully present immigrants are eligible for the Medicaid
expansion.” And
therein is the problem; with this bill
11 million immigrants (at least) would be declared “legal” and, thus, qualify for immediate inclusion under ObamaCare via Medicare.
2. The bill, as it
exists today, is well over 800 pages
with the promise of being amended and rewritten up until it's first vote. In other words, this will be another bill, packed full of pork, more federal agencies, and unread before it’s intended passage in the Senate; reason enough for its termination.
3. There is no reason to believe that that this bill will include a “trigger” guarantees requiring the closing of the border to further illegal entry. If this remains true, only "legal status" will become "new" law, while the continuing problems under the current circumstance, continue.
4. Under this act, all
newly qualified immigrants, “legally
present but not citizens” under this law,
would qualify for federal aid via
their legally born American children.
Whole families, waiting for
citizenship 13 years from now, would
share in these benefits via this “loophole.” [this is in addition to point #1] .
5. Which leads me to another and final point. Since no one really knows if we are talking
11 million immigrants or 30 million,
this bill cannot be “scored” effectively as to its costs. We do know that Medicare is already 42
trillion dollars in debt to its unfunded and future liabilities. This aspect of the current bill being considered
will only add trillions to this debt.
