From PJ Media:
Recall that Todd Akin’s and Richard Mourdock’s series of
unfortunate events began with needling, difficult questions that exposed their
religious beliefs. Those questions, and the two men’s answers to them, wrecked
their sure-fire candidacies and helped keep the Senate in the hands of the
devious Harry Reid. I’m not defending them; they gave bad answers, and Akin in
particular allowed his stubbornness to override good sense.
Recall also that Democrats are almost never asked needling,
difficult questions that expose their religious beliefs, even though if they
are Christians as they claim to be, their answers ought to be identical to the
answers given by most Republicans.
With all of that in mind, take a look at this exchange in Sen.
Marco Rubio’s interview with GQ, which appears in the lad mag’s
December 2012 issue.
GQ: How old do you think the Earth is?
Marco Rubio: I’m not a scientist, man. I can tell you what recorded history says, I can tell you what the Bible says, but I think that’s a dispute amongst theologians and I think it has nothing to do with the gross domestic product or economic growth of the United States. I think the age of the universe has zero to do with how our economy is going to grow. I’m not a scientist. I don’t think I’m qualified to answer a question like that. At the end of the day, I think there are multiple theories out there on how the universe was created and I think this is a country where people should have the opportunity to teach them all. I think parents should be able to teach their kids what their faith says, what science says. Whether the Earth was created in 7 days, or 7 actual eras, I’m not sure we’ll ever be able to answer that. It’s one of the great mysteries.

Update:
Note the same sort of deference to scientific opinion in Barack Obama’s answer, when he was asked during the Saddleback Church forum in 2008 when human life begins: “Whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity, you know, is above my pay grade.”
Rubio is allowing for a difference of opinion AS DID BARACK OBAMA.
The overwhelming consensus is that the Earth is billions of years old. And all of these sciences are the basis of the technology that is our country's lifeblood.

Understand this: “consensus” is not fact; it is the opinion of the majority and nothing
more. The opinion might accurate, scientifically, but it is an opinion, nonetheless.
We don’t get to vote on the “truth,”
as the Dems seem to claim. If the earth is 4.5 billion years old -- and that number is a fact, then such can never be changed, after all,
it is a “fact.” Is there anyone
reading this that thinks for a minute,
that changes to this estimate will not occur in the future? If so,
it is not the kind of “fact” that needs to be argued.

ReplyDeleteI no longer believe in free speech that is partisan and full of lies. This blog will not be used - for the next four years - to frame the Marxist debate against any conservative patriot. (I got this idea from the Marxist Dems who would do the same to my side of the aisle and, in fact, are currently in the process of limiting free speech to suit their standards).
I have no intentions of giving the Marxists and One Worlders a "fair hearing." That ended with this election campaign, the most disgusting in my 67 years as an American voter. You want to type my side of the debate with "racist," scare women and old people with your lies and fear monger crap - you will do it without my help.
This country is beyond repair and the One Worlders and anti-Colonialist are more than happy with this fact.
This is no longer "one nation under God" and I, for one, will no longer play that game. The Lefties are out to destroy any that is "conservative." They have declared jihad against the right and will say and do anything - obviously - to win the day and purge the nation of "conservatism."
If you want to debate issues, as a Lib., that is fine. But to use this blog to frame a false narrative as to the character of any conservative challenger, that will not be allowed.
