<<<< Powell is one of dozens of reasons why I am not a Republicans.
The following paragraph, taken from The Nation, was written to demonstrate the foolishness
of the "necon" position on such matters. As I read it,
the criticism of Romney implicit in this paragraph is exactly what I
expect from my conservative leadership. See what you think:
(Leftist Bias Stated)
If we take the candidate at his word, a Romney presidency
would move toward war against Iran; closely align Washington with the Israeli
right; leave troops in Afghanistan at least until 2014 and refuse to negotiate
with the Taliban; reset the Obama administration’s “reset” with Russia; and
pursue a Reagan-like military buildup at home. The Washington Monthly dubbed
Romney’s foreign policy vision the “more enemies, fewer friends” doctrine,
which is chillingly reminiscent of the world Obama inherited from Bush.
(Leftist Bias Corrected)
Like I said, if you ignore the
stated bias of the article, you have the truth of matter, to a large
extent, expressed in this article. When one ignores the Leftist
bias, we have a parallel statement that might read as follows:
If we take the candidate at his word, a
Romney presidency would not allow Iran to talk itself into being a nuclear
power; would align Washington with the State of Israel; would
remain in Afghanistan until stated and specific goals were attained; would not
negotiate with terrorist groups actively involved in the killing of our
soldiers such as the Taliban, nor would it free Taliban murderers back onto the
Afghan battlefield. Neither would a Romney presidency ignore the
existential threat of Russia to its European neighbors and the free world.
A Romney presidency would work to maintain an updated military
arsenal, expand troop force as it fully prepared for a two or three front war
and stop pretending that we are allied with the likes of China, Iran,
Venezuela, Russia.
Powell's Leftist Bias Exposed
What is most disappointing as this discussion, is the fact
that Colin Powell would agree with the negativity of The Nation's article,
referenced above. Of late, much has been made of Powell's refusal
to recommend Obama for a time. Understand that Colin Powell is, at
best, a RINO (Republican In Name Only), a man who
functions as if he were a Democrat plant, within the GOP.
In an
article found in the Huffington Post, we
have this headline: Colin Powell Trashes Mitt Romney's Team OfForeign Policy Advisers. In this
article, a review of Powell’s appearance on “Morning Joe” (MSNBC) , we have this quote of the four star general:
POWELL: "Look
at the world. There is no pure competitor of the United States of
America," he said. "All the problems we talk about in Afghanistan,
Iraq, Iran ... they count about 700 million people in a world of seven billion.
What are the rest of them doing? They're increasing their economies, they're
building wealth, they're educating their kids, they're building their
infrastructure. That's what we need to be doing."
Powell ignorantly
leaves off the fact that China is busy doubling the size of its military
complex and Russia is struggling to do the same . . . . . . . .
hardly indicators of a desire for peaceful coexistence.
Why I am not a Republican
In the
end, the GOP acceptance of the likes of Colin Powell, Midget Mayor Michael
Bloomberg, Dick Lugar, and the muscle bound Arnold Schwarzenegger, all
work to move the GOP away from established Constitutional principles and
a mainstream, commonsense, conservative world view.
I mean,
look at Powell. He is pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage and in
agreement with the social justice agenda of Obama. If he disagrees with
anything Obama is doing, it is Obama's antics as relates to the financial
mess we are in. At best, Colin Powell is a "blue dog"
Democrat and in that fact, we discover birth place of the TEA party. Powell is a pleasant talking socialist and nothing more and . . . . . . . . . . . he is on a book tour. Anyone willing to bet that he will support Obama?
