Something very interesting is about to happen, this coming Monday - Obama in a strategy meeting with 150 civilians, discussing the appointment of federal judges. Anyone think that a bit odd???

Here is a sure sign (I think) that Obama is concerned that he will lose the Senate and,  perhaps,  the presidency,  come this November.

He has called an emergency (my characterization) meeting of 150 supporters from across the nation  -  "supporters" I say,  not congressional figures -  to plot a strategy for getting his appointees  placed on "the bench"  before he leaves office or declares martial law.

What is curious about this meeting,  is that it involves a campaign strategy session of Obama and a select core of civilians  --  another first for this Administration.

The meeting has more than one purpose:

One:  it gets our minds off the economy and the campaign issues that really matter.

Two:  it gives him another anecdotal attack mechanism.    Rather than dealing with "issues,"  his strategy includes the creation of issues he can demagogue.

To date,  this strategy has included the "contraception wars,"  Ann Romney and stay-at-home moms,  ordering the Catholic Church to abandon its belief system,  something about a dog,  and attacking Romney because he is more successful at making money than Obama.  So far,  nothing has really "caught on,"  but that is not for lack of effort.

Look,  we all have at least one family member, let's call her Uncle Enid (he's transgendered, you know) who will not stop talking.  It is one story after another,  usually about people we do not know or complaints that are not ours.  In other words,  "they" talk and talk and,  in the end,  we could not care less about what they have to say.  Well that conversational methodology of  Uncle Enid's,  is based in what I call,  the "anecdotal."  Each story is an "anecdote" and when Uncle Enid stops talking,  if he ever does,  we have nothing to do but go somewhere and sleep it off.  Conversation that embraces the trivial,  the anecdotal,  is usually void of any real substance,  it is narrative for the sake of narrative and has little to do with the profound.

And,  that is what Obama's current campaign strategy is all about.  He has decided to go "anecdotal" on us,  to bring up one thing after another,  in the hopes that something will catch our attention.  When people do this,  whether it be Uncle Enid or Barry Hussein,  it usually means they have nothing of substance to say.

In sales,  this would be called the "splatter method of sales."  You throw as much buffalo droppings against the wall as possible,  and see if anything sticks.

The Washington Times gives us the first volley in this new and short lived assault on the GOP.   From Obama's associate director of the White House's Office of Public Engagement, a fellow named Brad Jenkins,  we have this accusatory proclamation (today):

First Volley:   Trivia Attack # 7

"Half of all Americans — over 130 million of us — live in judicial districts or circuits that have a vacancy that would be  filled today if this obstruction of judicial nominations would end.  This   unwarranted  obstructionism, as you well know, is detrimental to our courts and the lives of millions of Americans."

And, with the last words of the above,  Obama charges GOP "obstructionism" with the hopes that the American people will respond in disgust,  and return all Democrats to power,  come November,  2012.

Never mind the fact that Obama had two years to deal with this problem (2009 and 2010),  two years with a Congress that was fully controlled by his party.

Of course some of the justice appointees are being debated !  Why?  Because the GOP doesn't like them,  that's why.  Soooo,  Obama did not know that after he lost control of congress, it might not be a good time to get his agenda accomplished?  This all came as some sort of surprise to the Slickmeister ????

Of course not.  Proof,  in and of itself,  that this is all about the election,  and the strategy on this issue may have been planned two years ago !!

Point of post:  going back to the beginning of this article,  I see Obama making out his last will and testament,  politically speaking.  I think internal polling is giving him a very discouraging picture and, while he will not lay down and play dead,  he is acting the part of a realist at the same time.

I have made this point several times over the past three years but I think there is an excellent possibility that Obama is facing a monumental defeat in November and he knows.  I know it is "subtle," to say the least,  but, still,  I see no other reason for this legislative strategy except serious concern for what lies ahead.  Understand that 23 of his Senators are up for re-election.  Is this really a good time to try to pull off more controversial "victories?"  Is he planning to make a series of "recess appointments,"  hoping to finalize the appointments after the election, should he win?

Whatever we might imagine,  it is certain that this meeting on Monday,  is a first time affair and most unusual,  for that reason.  Very curious;  very odd.

End notes:

The Senate will consider three judicial appointments, on Monday, the 7th,   during Obama's civilian meeting.

Those nominations are: U.S. District Judge Jacqueline Nguyen to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Kristine Gerhard Baker to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Arkansas and John Lee to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois.
