If you are not aware of what is going on, Obama has decided that this campaign season would be a good time to rid our society of the 220 year old "conscience clause" as he orders the Catholic Church to supply insurance to all employees with a rider that provides abortion causing medications.
The Catholic Church is doctrinally opposed to this provision as a matter of papal (the Pope) decree. In other words, the matter is not open to discussion. What many do not know is that the very popular John Paul made opposition to abortion for any reason and contraception a matter of irrevocable Church doctrine. Catholic leadership has no choice but to oppose Obama's position and Catholic membership is encourage to comply. It is considered a sin, not to.
Obama has decided to "double down" on his order to comply with the new rules administered by HHS. The Catholic Church has declared that it will not comply, nor will any of its leadership pay fines assessed against them. The rule of conscience has been in play from the beginning of our nation. Obama has decided that his will is more important than that of the Pope or long standing, established Constitutional law, and a "show down" is in the works, come November the 6th.
We ask, "Is the American public aware that conception is not the critical issue in play? Do they know that this is not about women's health, per se, but about the Constitutional right of the Church, any church, to play out its own doctrinal concerns free of interference from the government?"
And the answer is "yes."
As I mentioned at the top of this post, opposition to Obama's ungodly push is almost unanimous, but is it informed? Here are four comments that indicate the electorate knows exactly what is going on, and, because they do, this will play a role in the effort to defeat Obama and his anti-Constitutional cadre.
The vast majority of the comments submitted focus on the mandate’s violation of Americans’ right of conscience, while a few discuss the health hazards of the medical procedures the mandate covers, and some call for full Obamacare repeal.
“As a Democrat, I will vote Republican if religious freedom is not protected and respected,” said one commenter, who identified herself as Arlene from Colorado.
An anonymous commenter from Missouri insisted that the mandate constitutes “a religious freedoms issue, not a women’s issue.”
Of course the fundamental problem with the anti-conscience mandate is not just that it’s unpopular, but that it violates the law. The First Amendment protects Americans’ religious and moral freedoms, a fact that the Department of Health and Human Services does not appear to have taken into account in formulating the rule.
Fooling almost no one, yea right ... is that why he has a huge lead among women?
