Obama and the Gallup averages: he is down in 47 of the 50 states.

Obama Approval Above 50% in 10 States and D.C. in 2011  —  District of Columbia, Hawaii most approving; Utah, Idaho, least  —  PRINCETON, NJ — In 10 states plus the District of Columbia, a majority of residents approved of the job Barack Obama was doing as president last year, according to aggregated data from 2011. . . . . .

Editor's notes:  What a nonsense article.  Of course he will have decent approval ratings in the states that he will win.  Problem:  ten might be the it for him,  but if they includes California and New York,  it might make for a close race.

The article's  headline (highlighted above) fails to tell you that 11 states held Obama's approval rating at 36% or less and 47 states show him with a lower approval rating than at the same time a year ago.

His yearly average remains at 44% approval for the third consecutive year.
