Anecdotal evidence of Ron Paul's unpopularity within the GOP. If he gets the nomination - many will not vote GOP.

Understand that the single most critical task assigned to the president,  any president,  is that of Commander In Chief.  On this matter,  Ron Paul is decidedly to the Left of Barack Obama.  While Obama is simply inept as a Commander and diplomat,  Ron Paul is intentionally "inept."  Understand this:  he would not have supported the American Revolution.  No Liberal in today's One World leadership would, but Ron Paul is claiming to be a member of the GOP.

He believes that 9/11 was caused by our misdeeds against the Muslim community.  In fact,  several of his supporters believe him to be a "truther."  He thinks Iran has a right to nuclear weapons and is opposed to military or financial support of Israel.  He's a political idiot and I will not vote for him, should he win the GOP nomination.  In fact,  several of my TEA Party buds have voiced similar intentions  - thus the "anecdotal evidence" mentioned in our headline.

What most people have forgotten is that the TEA Party began as a revolt against the Established, compromising  GOP as represented in the likes of John McCain.  If the GOP does not get that "we" are the majority opinion within that party,  that "national defense" is a de facto aspect of an un-stated litmus test for party leadership,  then our work of reform is not nearly as accomplished as we had hoped.

Ron Paul is a Libertarian and, a radical Libertarian at that.  What in the world is this moron doing in our party?

Point of post:  just to let folks know that Obama's defeat is not the primary concern of the TEA Party crowd.  Our first concern is the reclamation of the Republican Party.  Compromising Conservatives such as John McCain pretend that the GOP has moved away from them in a display of "radical" conservatism that promises to "ruin the Party."  Fine with me.  But,  understand that the TEA Party is simply trying to take the Party back to where it has been, to its  recent past.  Eisenhower was a flaming,  big government,  liberal within the Republican Party.  He hated the conservative wing.  And the modern day battle has been raging since that time.  Ronald Reagan,  while not as straight-line conservative as some claim him to have been,  is where the party needs to be.  McCain is hardly a Reagan Conservative.

Understand that "Reagan Conservatism"  wins elections.  TEA Party folks do not sit around wishing for the return of a Ron Reagan.  Rather,  they use the Reagan mystic as a pattern for future conservative successes.

As was Reagan's complaint against the Democrat Party ("I didn't leave the party,  it left me"),  the very same complaint can be filed against the GOP.  The difference?  There is nowhere to go if we allow the Big Dog White Boys of the Grand Old Party to continue to have their compromising way.  So we persist in this reminder:  "Try winning an election without the TEA Party vote."  McCain and his legions of misfits seek to present the GOP as a moderate/big government alternative to the "moderate/big government"  politics  of the One World Left and they are angry that such is no longer the only game in town.

And the beat goes on.
