An anecdotal argument against "wind energy." If you live next to a citrus orchard, you already know what I am going to say.

I live in the Central San Joaquin Valley in California, a country boy. Last night, the temp got down to 26 for more than three hours – a problem for the citrus growers. They use windmills to stir the air and add a degree or two to the night temps.

My point? You want a green economy based on wind? You really don’t know what you are talking about. For starters, you can hear these machines from over a mile away. There are six of them within ear shot of my home and are very noisy. If there was a “wind farm” of 30 or 40 of these things near by, we wouldn’t be able to sleep at night because of the noise. Secondly, each machine cost the local farmers about a thousand dollars an hour to run.

News flash: we are never going to get our energy, as a nation, from the wind. Someone tell the blowhards in Washington.
