Marist Poll has Obama beating all the competition, but Gingrich is within two points and Romney within four

It is clear from this poll, that Newt has made huge gains in the last two weeks. In fact, just 5 days ago, he was almost 10 points behind Obama. Today, he is two points behind. Can you imagine where he will be once he gets started with a campaign?

Romney still leads in most polls, and in a CNN poll, is beating Obama by 4 points. To date, Romney is the only GOP candidate who "beats" Obama in a head to head comparison.

Gingrich is one of the least personable of the several candidates, but this debate oriented primary strategy, best suits the ex-Speaker.

I do have my reservations, however. In recent years, he has moved more to the Right, but there was a time, 10-12 years ago, that he did not think much of the "hard right." He was one of the first to come up with the idea of an individual mandate. He was pro cap and trade, or, at least, in favor of a form of that regressive tax circumstance.

He was elected to Congress in 1979, and voted for the establishment of the Department of Education, that same year.

But, of course, all the candidates have their issues. While I am nowhere close to being "decided," Newt would be a formidable candidate and good conservative representative, or so it appears.
