Well, a quick glance at the Gallup chart to the left will tell you that, as relates to Obama's approval numbers, nothing has changed. In fact, despite the killing of bin Laden and the deaths of several high level terror operatives, the downward trend is rather startling.
Obama received a slight bump in the 10th quarter report, but has more than lost that increase in the 11th quarter (July - September).
What does this mean? The fact that from time to time, Obama does something that gives him a "bump" simply means that people agree with those events. The fact that the "events" translate into temporary increases in popular opinion, means that a large part of the populace has already made up its mind as to what it thinks of this man's leadership. As it turns out, Obama is to the Left of the general population, more so than with any other modern day president. More than this positional difference, there is the fact of his aggressive tone and conduct.
Will he change direction and or continue to hang to the Left? That decision is much more critical to his re-election chances than the state of the economy. If you are conservative, do not get caught up in the thinking that this coming election is all about "jobs." To think that people do not care about Obama's transformation policies, that they will ignore the fact of his redistributionist efforts and his socialist unionizing attachments, that his One World agenda is bigger than the continuing historicity of this nation's Constitutional traditions and sovereignty, is just not in line with reality and polling information such as Gallup's report, above. This man is not like us and folks are realizing just how manifestly important this difference is.
