"Occupy" versus Taxed Enough Already - not the same at all.

Another reason for putting Midkinght Review in your bookmark list.

I do not believe that "Occupy" began as an organized anything. It was not funded by anyone. It was just a bunch of college aged kids angry at the fact that the system is so screwed when it comes to the excesses on Wall Street.

BUT !!! it is apparent to me that the radicalized Left, the one Worlder/Marxist/Redistributionist combine of the Democrat Party (not all Dems are in this classless group of leaders) is attempting to grab hold of Occupy and make it its own. I am not sure Van Jones and his Marxists buds (he was a 10 year card carrying member of the American Communist Party, folks) really wants this to happen. Friday night, he was part of an under reported meeting in which plans were initiated that could lead to the formation of a separate party, feeding off Occupy. I am saying they these radicals are talking about holding a convention on July 4 and electing 435 representatives, one for each congressional district in the nation, all in an effort at becoming a deciding influence in the 2012 elections.

Think I am nuts? Never heard of this before? Could this be possible? Can there be a better reason for reading Midknight Review on a regular basis?

So much for the advertisement. Go to Business Insider for the rest of this story. "Pie in the sky" is what I think about this effort to set "progressivism" up as a legitimate American political party.

I will give you the first four steps for this "becoming." There are ten such steps. Take the time to read the linked article. I could be wrong, of course, but I believe this is just another pipe dream from the Left.

To peak your curiosity, here are those first four steps:

1. The Occupy Wall Street movement, through the local general assembly, should elect an executive committee comprised of 11 people or some other odd number of people that is manageable for meetings. Ideally this committee should represent each city in the U.S. that is being occupied.

2. The executive committee will then attend to local issues such as obtaining permits, paying for public sanitation and dealing with the media. More important, the executive committee shall plan and organize the election of the 870 delegates to a National General Assembly between now and July 4, 2012.

3. As stated in the 99% declaration, each of the 435 congressional districts will form an election committee to prepare ballots and invite citizens in those districts to run as delegates to a National General Assembly in Philadelphia beginning on July 4, 2012 and convening until October 2012.

4. Each of the 435 congressional districts will elect one man and one woman to attend the National General Assembly. The vote will be by direct democratic ballot regardless of voter registration status as long as the voter has reached the age of 18 and is a US citizen. This is not a sexist provision. Women are dramatically under-represented in politics even though they comprise more than 50% of the U.S. population.

As you can see, the radicalized dream team responsible for this effort, is very serious. The problem?

For starters, there is no "member base" population as there is with the T.E.A. movement.

Secondly, Occupy is not a movement with specific demands. Rather, it is a population of disgruntled citizens. In interview after interview, these young people seem proud of the fact that they have no agenda except to oppose Wall Street greed. "No direction" translate into "no agenda" which translates into "no chance."

Third, the American Nazi Party, the Communist Party, the Marxist oriented Congressional Black Caucus, the anti-capitalist SEIU, the socialist lead AFL-CIO and Code Pink all have come out in support of this "movement." I think this is a death blow to any effort to legitimize "progressivism" as a separate political party capable of funding itself, electing representatives to congress and the like. When you start off hating people with money and developing partnerships with others of like mind, chances are you will have no money to function in the Big Leagues. Look at Obama. Wall Street supported him 70 - 30 in 2008. They are not going to make the same mistake twice.

By contrast, T.E.A. is using the GOP as its base organization. The "political machine" is already there and the success of T.E.A in recent elections, proves its viability as a driving political influence. It does not have the funding of the Esablisment GOP it is revamping, but it does have money, nonetheless. . . . . . . and the Koch Brothers are not part of that funding, btw. Sure, T.E.A. is populated by a bunch of old white guys . . . . . you know, kind of like the folks at MSNBC and the leadership of the Democrat Party. Here is the catch - the old guys in the TEA movement are determined; they are a larger population; and they are going to live for another 15 years. I think that is enough time to turn this thing around.

Patriots vs the Foreigners ?

I am going with the Pats for the win.
