Obama and the NLRB continues its assault on "right to work" states.

On April 20, The National Labor Relations Board [the NLRB] filed a 10-page complaint (see pdf) against Boeing alleging the company's decision in 2009 to locate its second assembly plant in South Carolina represented illegal retaliation against employees belonging to the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers (IAM). As a remedy, the NLRB is seeking a judicial order for the company to shift all production of its 787 Dreamliner commercial jet back to its original planned facility in Washington State. The IAM (machinist union) , predictably, is delighted. Boeing and South Carolina officials are furious. Understand that South Carolina, unlike Washington, is a Right to Work state.

This story was first reported with these words: "Boeing to pack up and leave Washington State." That was never true. The fact of the matter is this: Boeing has decided against building another plant in Seattle. Rather, they will continue the existing plant and have already added 2,000 more jobs to that facility. The plant in South Carolina will add another 3,800 jobs to the work force. Both plants would be a part of the Boeing production mill.

If the Government, Obama's Government, is successful in this right to work assault, Boeing will be going to Asia for it continued expansion.

The NLRB's decision is currently in the courts.

  1. Wrong! Washington is also a Right to Work state! No one in the state can be forced to join a union!
